So........took a short 5 day vacation and left the Mach e outside in the driveway. When I came back this is what I found......
Ford Mustang Mach-E Melted Side View Mirror - Mirror PXL_20250726_164427831.MP

At first I thought something fell on it then someone try to pry it off but then clearly it melted. Anyone have this happen? This should be covered under warranty? I saw one other post on here and their pic is the exact same.

Lesson learned don't leave the Mach e parked for an extended period in the hot sun with southern exposure.

I park mine outside and have yet to encounter this. I can see how this might happen. 🤔🐩

That's going to be some kind of reflection off a glass window pane or mirrored surface that concentrated the sun enough to melt the plastic. Sort of like using a magnifying glass to fry ants.

Yup I’ve seen this with artificial turf sadly.

That’s just shitty material spec. Should be covered under warranty.

So...........after multiple dealer discussions and contacting Ford Customer Relations they concluded that this is not covered under warranty. Even the dealer said their response was funny. They stated that the mirror was clearly damaged by the sun and therefore was not a manufacturing defect. I almost forget we are not supposed to have our cars out in the sun.

Any advice on next steps with Ford? Seems crazy that something on the car fails through not action than the environment. For grins I asked what the repair cost would be from the dealer......$1,800!!

I am tempted to just leave it as this is Ford lease car and just turn it back in (although I love the car and wanted to give it to one of my kids).

Wow, what a stupid justification from Ford!

My vinyl siding on my house is all kinds of warped because of how they built my neighbors house in relation to the sun (he has a large window that concentrates the sun). I agree this is definitely some kind of magnifying reflection at work.

Figure out where the light is coming from. If it's a neighbor's window you could try for their insurance. Or your homeowner's insurance.

Exactly, it came from the car window itself!! When the mirrors fold in puts that part of the mirror right in line with the glass. Went away for a week so was folded in the whole time and was sunny the entire week. Anyone know Fords comp insurance :)

Left my car in my driveway for 3-weeks in Summer while on vacation in Europe. Mirrors folded in. Came back to a car with no melted mirrors.

The melting didn't come from the car's windows. They're convex from the perspective of the sunlight hitting them. You need something acting as a concave mirror to focus enough sunlight on a specific spot to cause melting.

Did this happen on both mirrors, or just one? What direction was the car parked?
