**Here is my "Why?" part. Zeekr is owned by Geely Auto (Chinese Company that owns Volvo/Polestar) This car is being manufactured in Europe (Volvo). If China can send us Volvo and Polestar EVs; why would they not send a car like this to the US??? I assume it would sell like "gang-busters" based on those stats and how good the Chinese have gotten at manufacturing (not to mention the long-standing excellent manufacturing of Volvo).

Anyway, just curious why Geely is sending us the XC 40 and not the Zeekr 7GT?? Oh, as far as comparing it to the MME???? C'mon Man, that is just too painful an exercise for any MME owner!!! AND, when the heck will a US company be able to give us an offering like the Zeekr. I'd much rather buy a US company product!!!!

No thanks. Just another fast but ugly station wagon.

I, for one, like the looks of all the Zeekers. They are designed in Sweden, and the design studio is led by Stefan Sielaff. He previously led teams at Audi, Mercedes, VW, and Bentley, and I think they look like sleeker Audis or Porsches. I saw some posts and YouTube videos recently that Zeeker is thinking about entering the US possibly leveraging Polestar/Volvo manufacturing locations.

There have been rumors Geely is planning to use Volvos factories to produce Chinese branded EVs (eg Zeekr and Lynk&Co) for the US market in the next several years.

Not sure if there’s room in the market for yet another premium EV brand. If they do bring a new brand here I think they would have to focus on the budget/mainstream market instead to be successful.

But they can just as easily continue to bring in Volvo and Polestar branded versions as well since they are already established brands and built on the same platforms.

Seriously? Looks like a Porsche?

Trying to picture throwing a Porsche badge on the above car and, no sir, doesn’t work.

Maybe looks like a Hyundai, Honda or Toyota. But that is definitely not a sports car style.

Looking at their website, I do find some of the other models interesting. The 001 isn’t bad looking. Maybe more Porsche SUV. There is some serious design variety though. So many manufacturers make all their cars look too alike. Good for them for some variety.

Seeing these and other EVs first hand in China leaves a big impression. The domestics are falling further and further behind the Chinese at a steady pace.

It's obvious that the design language is similar to the current crop of Porsches and Audis, as you pointed out, Zeeker's first product, the 001 is a shooting brake and clearly has similarities to the Taycan Cross Turismo. I'm not saying they are the same, but it has a strong European influence since it was designed by people who have previously designed European cars. I really like the 001 and the hot hatch sized X model. The X model clearly is related to the Volvo EX30 but I like the headlights better on the Zeeker X.
100% agree that the designs are engaging enough between models to notice they are the same brand but offer some unique visual excitement.
Hyundai and Kia do offer some unique styling but I think the Honda EV (GM based) and the Toyotas are boring. The Acura ZDX did look nice (also GM based), but they dropped that model 🤷‍♂️

I saw these cars last year in Amsterdam. They are absolutely beautiful. Blew me away. To bad they aren't available here.
Several recent reports and the fact that Zeeker (Geely) is asking influencers to drive Zeeker models both in the US and in Europe show they are testing the waters. Volvo and Polestar have manufacturing in the US, and the current administration has stated they don't care if Chinese companies build cars in US. I think Geely brands have the best chance to see expansion in the US over other Chinese brands. Several Chinese companies were exploring building in Mexico over the past few years, so they are looking to expand.

I want a Lotus Emeya but it's not selling even in China. Even without tariffs it's well over 100k. Plus it's big and fat and its ADAS is terrible (lidar disabled). Its torque vectoring is off, wobbly launches. and and. It's beautiful

But beauty is only 3rd on my list of criteria: #1 ADAS; #2 fun to drive

Yup - Slap a Hyundai badge on it, and you could sneak this past Customs, no problem ;-)

Well, the Zeekr 7X is an actual SUV which compares to the MME better than the shooting break 7GT. Both 7X and 7GT share the same specs except the 0-100 km/h. 3.8s for the 7X vs 3.3s for the 7GT. Those are global versions. China versions just got facelifted updating the 800V architecture to 900V and upping the battery size a bit plus hp/torque and range increase resulting 0-100km/h in 2.98s (7X), 2.95s (7GT).

Both are fantastic EVs. So many features. On top of my head for the 7X global version:
- Air suspension
- Nappa leather, massaging seats
- Heads up display
- 21 speakers
- Automatic operating doors
- Forged 21" wheels
- Front drilled discs (Brembo I think?)

Fit and finish are excellent and the material used feels top notch. Took those pics of the 7X at Amsterdam dealership last month. (This is not the AWD flagship trim)
