My Ford mobile charger feels a little warm and is displaying a partial amber color, I am using the higher voltage plug-in, I unplugged and plugged it back in, still happening. Is this a defect with the mobile charger? Do I have an argument to get a replacement charger from the Ford dealership? Help what do I do?

No expert here but I believe the blinking amber light means overheating unit or outlet. If it has been working in the past then I would first inspect the wall outlet. If it is fine then I would recommend two things: try to return unit for warranty replacement and place new unit in trunk and then purchase a better EVSE. The Ford mobile unit appears to just not last that long.

I'll echo @AKgrampy . The mobile charger has failed on a number of users (though some have gotten by just fine relying on it). Regardless, redundancy is always wise. I just had a nice 3rd party charger (EVSE - electric vehicle system equipment) installed and now keep the mobile charger in my frunk. The purchase and installation of 3rd party charger qualifies for a tax credit (30% I believe). You can search the forum for plenty of info on both mobile charger issues and recommendations for 3rd party chargers. Good luck!

Its the defective charger. We had the same problem and the dealer wouldnt take a claim without having our car over night. Dont trust them anyway. Bought the Juicebox 40 returning 33 miles per hr and 40 miles on our Tesla y

I think all mfgs should have a warning that comes with the mobile chargers:

"This charger shall not be used as a daily charging device"

If you only had 1 gas station within 500 miles, I'm sure you would likely have gas cans as a backup. The mobile charger should be your "gas can". It should only be used if your main EVSE doesn't work or when you travel and might need it in a pinch.

Or, you could use it all the time as needed and it lasts for at least 2+ years and still going - even with the amber light issue. Then you could buy a new one when (if) it stops working.
