Day and a half? My service department told me they had to order parts and would be approximately 1 week, you’re lucky. My HVBJB was replaced last year as part of the recall and that’s the part that failed. So appears replacements aren’t any y better than the originals.
This has been my concern all along, that the new part still ultimately fails, it's just a matter of time.

Of note - I can't think of 1 failure of the HVBJB on the Lightning forum...

True.

But there are more than a few 2021 - 2022s that got the replacement of the final, improved part, that have failed a 2nd time. That's the part that concerns me.

Last night went to dinner for my wife’s birthday. Got back to car and it wouldn’t shift into drive. Message on dash said to pull over safely even though car was parked. Battery icon showed on dash. I assumed my 12 volt had died so called ford roadside for a jump. Jump didn’t fix the issue so had to call back for a tow. The jump cost me $96 and the tow $169 to get it to the closest Ford dealership because to get it to my local dealer would have been $450. Waited 3 hours for tow truck only for them to say they couldn’t load it because they needed a dolly since car couldn’t be put in neutral. I told Ford roadside that the car would not shift into neutral so don’t know why they wouldn’t have requested one with the right equipment. Ford roadside wanted me to pay another $169 for second tow. I disputed this as it was not my fault, had to escalate to a manager to get them to waive the fee, this really upset me. Waited another hour only for second tow truck to cancel before even arriving. We finally decided to just go home as it was already 3 am and they had no idea when tow would arrive. Paid $70.00 more for Uber. I’ve had no major issues with my car for 4 years until now. Finally got a call at 10am from tow company letting me know they had arrived to pick up car. I know dealership is closed today so not sure where they’re going to leave the car but frankly I’m so upset I don’t even care anymore.

2021 Extended Range RWD

Update got these alerts this morning probably after Service shop started looking at it

Update 2: Just got off the phone with advisor. Tech says it’s the 12 volt battery. I told him it was just replaced 2 months ago, he said if I emailed him receipt they could warranty replace the battery. Also said tech wants to keep it overnight to see if there’s some phantom 12 volt drain. Asked me about my dash cam, how long I’ve had it, maybe it’s draining battery. I’ve had that dashcam since June 2022, also let him know camera shuts off when car is turned off, I actually used to have a power bank to power the camera while off because it got no juice from car when off but I got rid of the power bank because it was recalled. So I guess I’ll see tomorrow what they say.

Update 3: Dealer says car is ready for pick up. Looks like It was the 12v battery, not sure how it can go bad after 2 months. This was such a reliable car for the first 4 years of ownership but now i think I’ll be a little worried it will leave me stranded every time i drive it. Have a roadtrip planned to Universal Studios next month for my birthday but thinking maybe i should get a rental or fly just to be safe. Going to probably be getting another car soon but in the meantime i will definitely sign up for AAA just in case. Well off to grab another expensive Uber to pick it up.

Update 4: well the saga continues. I was on my way to dealer to pick up the car and I get a call from the service advisor. He said someone from Fords Electric division just called him and asked him to keep the car at the shop a bit longer. Apparently their engineers are reviewing some of my cars data. She didn’t know what they had found and told him she would call him back tomorrow. I let him know I was on my way there in an Uber, so he said they would give me a loner when I got there and then would drop off my car and pick theirs up after it was all done. So I’m driving back home in a white ecobost Mustang.

Update 5: just got the heads up from the Dealer Service rep. Ford wants them to replace the HVBJB due to a stored code in the PCM that could leave me stranded again. They are ordering the parts and I should have my car back by the end of next week. Well I guess it turned out to be what a lot of you guys suspected it was. Im kinda glad because it just being the 2 month old 12v just didn’t sit well with me.
She’s finally back home. Hoping doesn’t happen again.

Same here… Got the car back today.
Same work done as stated in your document.
I asked the guy and he verified my 12V battery is at 99% but I will change it this summer.

Mine did... I did my research and thought the same thing before I bought my Lightning. I'm not the only one, either, based on forum responses.

Mine is now at the dealer for the second time to have its third battery module replacement, which is a much more common issue on Lightnings.

I came over here to scope out the battery scene because I have my eye on a CPO MME GT. That's how I stumbled upon this thread.

In a normal world, yes.
I had my car plugged and charging, then got a " Charging Error" msg on my app. Unplugged it, tried to start only to have "Stop Safely Now" and Full Accessory Power Active" come up. My 12 V was around 90% SOC and the HVB 82% SOC with 94% SOH at 114000 kms on it. Had to tow it to the dealership where it took them couple days to look at it. They went from replacing the entire HVB under warranty, to have me pay for replacing the "NK4Z 10C666 E - BEC High Voltage B", to see if they can replicate the error on Monday, and see what the problem really is. One of the worst experience in my life. My car has been sitting there almost a week now.
I have been getting this intermittently on my MME and took it to the dealer. They duplicated the intermittent failure two days ago and got Ford involved in the trouble shooting. Today, Ford sent the dealer a software update to fix my car, after they had the dealer perform 14 "circuit checks".

Mine was drivable when I took it to the dealer, one day it would start, but not the next day, just accessory mode. I had been getting charging fault messages for months, but it never actually failed to charge. Picking it up tonight, hopefully all these errors will be gone.

Not sure if this is a coincidence, but I got the 12V lockout recall OTA about a month ago. Maybe that introduced a new software bug.

12v drain is becoming a regular issue for my 21 MME standard AWD… 3rd tow to the dealer this past Friday…. I’m ready to throw in the towel on this vehicle. It’s been great for me since I bought in 21 and racked up 116,000 miles. But now I’m a month into this 12V constantly draining from (old 12V?, cold weather?, Too many updates to modules all at once?) no one knows! I’m $1700 in repairs at this point. The new 12V install on the first visit(which was probably due anyways) was $550. The next visit 10 days later was $1160 for them to manually update modules. Now it’s back 6 days later with what they told me over the phone before the vehicle even got towed was a code for likely the HVBJB.

Of course I’m over 100,000 miles so I don’t think that’s being covered under warranty. The recall on the HVBJB was only for Long Range and GT if I read that right? Did standard range get a better part? Anyone had to get this thing replaced and pay out of pocket? I’m trying to prepare myself for this dreaded call from the dealership. Any help would be appreciated?

UPDATE: it is the HVBJB… The tech thinks a recent software update may have changed the tolerances in which it checks the HVBJB, now causing the fault codes and warning messages to appear. This could be why the increase in MACH E 12V battery issues for many lately.

Also the service center reached out to ford to see if they would be willing to help cover costs since it’s been a known issue and a recall for other trims already. Ford will not help with repair.

I already reached out previously to Ford Customer Care and they acted like they would assist on the visit with the $1160 module updates. Since then they have ghosted us and never responded to emails. Our case manager is never available to take our calls. Ford has really gone down in my book from this past month of problems.
