I follow the forum. Enjoy reading educational and positive posts. I guess anything is tested and possible when it comes to thievery. But you were on the mark of the door keypad use. I’ve used it many times for its convenience. My secure alert works well, with key in car and not in car. I have the earlier model. Glad you set the record straight. Sad his car was stolen, but my opinion something smells!

I really feel for you, OP. What a crummy experience you are having. FWIW from some reading and YT scanning I've been doing, my impression is that most high-value or highly sought stolen vehicles go straight into waiting containers. As multiple containers are accumulated by the thieves, they will then be trucked to a shipping port with container capability. As a result, grand theft detection efforts have shifted more to port surveillance . The assumption that seems to be universal in this discussion is that the car was unlocked and/or the FOB left in the car gave the thieves access to the car. That might not be the case. It's not uncommon for thieves to download FOB codes - the receivers that do this now have expanded range - while driving down a neighborhood street or at a shopping mall. They then make a fresh FOB and Bob's your Uncle.

In the OP's circumstances, my two thoughts would be 1) I wouldn't mind getting my car back if it had been safety tucked into a container, but 2) I'm not sure I'd want it back otherwise. Until found and returned, isn't it not the insurance company that essentially 'owns' the vehicle?

Woke up early yesterday morning to find that my Mach-E had been stolen. Whoever stole it knew enough to delete my phone as a key (why is there no 2FA before deletion?), but not enough to take it without damaging other vehicles around it.

The deputy they sent out sounded pretty sure they'd find it and that it was a question of when and not if, but the answers I've been getting from since then isn't filling me with confidence.

I've contacted Ford support and they ensured me there is no way to track the vehicle, but that doesn't make any sense to me considering the Vehicle Location functionality in the FordPass app. All they said I could do was make a modem log request - through mail no less - to the Office of the General Counsel.

I've also tweeted at Ford to try to get some more information but I figured I'd post here too to see if there's anything else that can be done. The detectives are actually waiting for me to get them more information.

I'd appreciate any info/advice!
My sincerest apologies for you inconvenience. Respectfully, your situation helps/ sheds light to the rest of us, to be aware for our own Mach E's. I hope you get your vehicle back soon and get it fixed. Apparently theres a flaw in the design when it comes to the phone/key. Hope all goes well for you.

Am I wrong or is there some resistance to just setting a PIN-to-drive code? Seems pretty straight forward.
There already is a back-up start code if you don’t have PaaK or your fob with you. I would not want a pin that needs to be entered every time on top of having PaaK or a fob if that is what you mean.

at some point the car will have to be recharged. Is their not a way to track on public chargers when your car may have been charged? This is assuming they don’t have a home charger.
also, can you post a picture, location of were it was stolen and license plate? We can all keep a look out.

Don't have a picture of it at the moment, but the tag is Y09YXQ. The location it was stolen is south of the Orlando International Airport around toll road 417.

As far as I can tell.....some public chargers track the make and model but I never seen a VIN in the data file.

this is $10, and you'd know right where your car is.

Amazon.com: Tracki (2021) Mini GPS Tracker Magnetic. Full USA &Worldwide Coverage. for Vehicles, Car, Kids, Elderly, Child, Dogs & Motorcycles. Small Portable Real time Tracking Device. Monthly fee Required : Electronics

I have a similar one ready to mount on my MME whenever it makes it to my driveway.

Sorry to hear of your MME getting snatched. I hope they find it unscathed.
I guess I don't get the interest in tracking your stolen auto. YOU can't do anything about it once it's stolen (unless you're dumb enough to go find it and confront the thieves). A police department may, or may not, go after it if you provide a location. However, as stated, most people wouldn't want a vehicle back after it's been stolen, because the thieves destroy them. And your insurance company is going to pay out for you.

Okay, thanks everyone! Now that you all have covered all the possibilities, Mach e thefts can now begin.

Is it true that if the car was in Valet mode then they would not have access to the screen to change or delete any data.
