Do you know where to get any that are small that are also ruggedized? All of the ones I've seen are just bags that could easily but cut open. Then of course there's ones that look like vaults. If you know where to get one that's small and rugged let us know.
One of those small hidden handgun safes might work. Theow the key in a faraday bag, toss bag in safe, lock safe.

That said, being the son of a hyper-paranoid master locksmith I will never lock my key in the car to which it belongs. A lifetime of him ragging on my siblings and me isn’t going to fade.

And again, the theft of the car just plain sucks. I hope someone can do something soon to rectify the situation, whether it be law enforcement or insurance.

Forgot about that. I ended up disabling that feature on my F150.
I have it scheduled to only activate between certain hours to make it more useful having it working at night could have helped possibly.

Sorry to hear about this and hope you get the car back! As some have noted it can be risky to leave a FOB in the car even with the door locked. My understanding is that car thieves often use a device that can detect FOBs within a certain range. In our area there has been a rash of car thefts virtually all them because of FOBs left in cars and we have heard that thieves may be using such a scanning device to identify these cars.
Makes sense to go on Amazon and buy a Farady fob bag when you leave the fob in the car put it in the Faraday bag and hide it and it blocks all signals use the keypad to open the door.

Just wondering if any of you who deliberately leave (and hide) your fob in the car, relying on the combo on the driver's door for locked exit and subsequent entry, also take the additional step of putting that fob in a Faraday cage before concealing it somewhere within the car..?

Seems like a good idea. That would prevent anyone who gained entry from simply driving away, as the fob must first be removed from the cage to communicate and be used with the vehicle.

Just a thought.
I do. Just in case PAAK didn't work. which it didn't many times in the beginning. Now PAAK is much more reliable so I can remove it now.

Just wondering between a (somewhat) working PAAK solution, door pin code, and separate startup pin code, in the cases where one would need to hide or leave a key, don’t the other methods provide enough options to not have to leave the fob anymore? Or the minor inconvenience of the start up pin is a reasonable trade off for security I would think…
I agree with this, why bother with the fob at all as the backup start code can be used to turn on the vehicle.

If someone doesn’t want to take their phone with them, can also disable bluetooth to disable PaaK and leave the phone in the car (or not bring the phone at all and leave phone at home and just use backup start code to leave home).

Given potential for break in, dealing with faraday bags that might fail, get lost, etc, seems the better option than taking the fob along on a trip where someone knows they won’t want to carry it on their person.

I'm very sorry to hear this OP. I really hope for the best in getting your car back. Try not to let any negative comments here discourage you. I have my fingers crossed you get it back in one piece and relatively unscathed as it sounds like they weren't gentle when they took it. Not that there is any chance it will make it all the way up to my neck of the woods, but I will keep my eyes peeled for it.

It can, so says Ford here, at least in Europe:

FORD HELPS THEFT VICTIMS RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLES USING CONNECTED CAR TECH
07-Oct-2021 | COLOGNE, Germany
Ford Mustang Mach-E My Mach-E Was Stolen 1633531659520

  • Ford introduces Stolen Vehicle Services for the FordPass app to help customers protect their vehicle and to provide 24-hour support in the event of a vehicle theft
  • Drivers who are alerted to their vehicle being stolen contact a dedicated call centre that can enable the police to track the vehicle to increase the chances of recovery by the police
  • Available initially for Mustang Mach-E GT, Thatcham S7-rated Stolen Vehicle Services is one element of Ford Secure subscriptions, free for trial period on compatible vehicles
Ford is introducing a fully integrated theft recovery service designed to help prevent or mitigate the impact of a vehicle theft. 1
Operated through the FordPass app, 2 Stolen Vehicle Services sends an alert to the owner’s smartphone if an attempted theft is detected. The app guides the user through the process of reporting the incident to the police and provides 24-hour on-call support including vehicle tracking. Stolen Vehicle Services builds on the functionality of SecuriAlert 3 and sends an alert to the user’s smartphone using FordPass Connect.
“No one wants to think about the consequences of having their vehicle stolen. Stolen Vehicle Services provides a heightened level of detection of an attempted theft, on-call support to assist the police to track and locate the vehicle, increasing the likelihood of recovery and supporting our customers if the worst should happen,” said Charles Nolan, manager of retail connectivity solutions, Ford Enterprise Connectivity.
Between 2009 and 2018, more than 500,000 vehicles were stolen across the EU each year, 4while in the UK over the same period most stolen vehicles were never recovered, 5 leading to further emotional and financial stress for the victims.
Initially available for the new Mustang Mach-E GT 6 with other Ford vehicles to follow, Stolen Vehicle Services is part of the Ford Secure 1subscription package, which will be supplied free of charge for a trial period on compatible vehicles. 7 The service is available this year in the UK and Republic of Ireland with wider availability across Europe in 2022.
Help on call if needed
If the owner receives an alert via the FordPass app that an unauthorised or unexpected action has taken place, a single tap on the FordPass app is sufficient to report the vehicle stolen, and guides the owner through the process of securing and recovering the vehicle by reporting to the police.
Firstly, the FordPass app finds the telephone number for the local police based on the owner’s current location, enabling them to report the vehicle as stolen and obtain a crime reference number. The app also provides a handy text box to record that number and any other important information, automatically saving it for later reference.
The FordPass app then enables the owner to dial the Stolen Vehicle Services call centre to provide the crime reference number and other important information. Available 24-hours a day, seven days a week, the Stolen Vehicle Services call centre remotely enables ‘theft mode’, where some vehicle features are disabled in a safe manner in order to make vehicle tracking and recovery by the police more efficient.
Enhanced detection
The system is activated by the driver through the FordPass smartphone app and their Ford account, and in addition to those detected by SecuriAlert, uses the vehicle’s sensors to detect a number of events that could indicate the vehicle is being stolen. The events can include master reset – an attempt to deactivate FordPass Connect, and inconsistent location – when the ignition is turned on and the vehicle’s location coordinates are different to when the ignition was last turned off.
If one of the sensors is triggered, a push notification is sent to the owner’s smartphone to indicate a potential theft has occurred. The FordPass app shows the recent vehicle status to help the owner determine if the vehicle has been moved or entry attempted without their knowledge, and gives the option to cancel in the event of a false alarm. The additional monitoring and protection mean that Stolen Vehicle Services has achieved a Thatcham S7 security rating.
Connected for the future
Stolen Vehicle Services is the next step in Ford’s suite of connected services that offer greater functionality and an enhanced customer experience, all enabled by FordPass Connect.
Ford vehicles featuring SYNC 4 come with a free trial subscription to Ford Secure, 1 which includes Stolen Vehicle Services, and will be enhanced by new features such as Location Alerts – the ability to create user-chosen boundaries and receive push notifications should the vehicle leave these areas for added reassurance that your vehicle is where it should be, and Neighbourhood Alerts – notifications from other SecuriAlert-protected vehicles in your area that can give advanced warning of criminals operating nearby, as Power-Up wireless updates at a later date.

1 Features require activation
2 FordPass app, compatible with selected smartphone platforms, is available via download. Message and data rates apply. FordPass Connect, the FordPass app and complimentary Connected Service are required for remote features (see FordPass terms for details). Connected Service and features depend on Vodafone or Vodafone partner mobile network availability. Evolving technology/mobile networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features. Connected Service excludes Wi-Fi hotspot.
3 SecuriAlert is the connected security system that uses the existing vehicle sensors to detect if an attempt is being made to break into the vehicle – even using a key.
4 Number of police recorded offences of theft of motorised land vehicle
5 45.31 per cent of stolen vehicles were recovered by police between 2009 and 2018
6 The declared WLTP fuel/energy consumptions, CO2-emissions and electric range are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. The applied standard test procedures enable comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers.
7 Available at additional cost following trial period. Costs may vary depending on market and currency.

Thanks for the link!

Gotta love the auto-translation they used on that Amazon posting:

signal transmitted and lead to car stolen

Put your car key into the inner pocket, but the outer pocket.

Put your car key into Faraday bag after to protect your car.

It provides signal blocking functions as well as a luxurious fashionable appurtenance

——-

I feel like those just aren’t quite the words they were going for. Price is good though!

Edit: I read some of the reviews and wouldn’t recommend this bag. Too many red flags-

Badly translated English- red flag

7,000+ global reviews- huge red flag they pay people for fake reviews

Dozens of US 1 star reviews- tons of people saying it doesn’t work or quits working after a few weeks. These would be the reviews I trust.
It works great regardless of the translation.

I actually use these bags and they do work totally block the signal. You can put it in the bag walk up too car it will not get a signal. I used it to hide FOB in the car with PAAK being so bad in the beginning was always worried I would get stuck. The good news is I never had to use it and now PAAK works much better than it used to.

The Ford Europe link confirms my suspicions. Car manufacturers are all about tapping into recurring revenues post sale so expect them to charge you to find your car when it is stolen. My old Nissan Leaf can track, geofence, report speeding or bad driving - every teenager's nightmare. Ford can do this too and will in the future.

The FordPass app is dumb, it just displays the GPS coordinates and odometer (and more) from the Ford servers, where the car has sent them using Ford's private LTE connection. So unless the thieves were astute enough to disable the data connection (via option or a fuse pull), I'm thinking Ford has some location history on this.

I can see that Ford doesn't want just anyone calling up and asking to track a Mach-E but an official request should get this done.

Good to hear, I’m just worried about the dozens of reviews that said it didn’t work or quit working after a few weeks.

Too many junk products on Amazon with the exact same format as this listing so it’s hard to tell the good from the bad.

Usually the most obvious form of deceit is a listing that’s fairly new and has thousand’s of international reviews.
