Just wondering. What is wrong with using the USB port to charge the phone?

I would assume it is a lot easier to just drop the phone and let it charge than to constantly plug it in and unplug it...

@L0WBATT3RY, see if you can get a low profile 90º plug (not that it matters all that much) :)

I might have to do the same mod... my wife hates that her phone does not charge on the mat.

EDIT: this cable looks awesome for this application https://www.amazon.com/USB-Cable-3-3ft-High-Speed-Compatible/dp/B0CCJLS4R5

you didn't seem to make any claims re: efficacy, does it work better than the original?

i ask because when questions were asked to ford why the original get so hot and is so slow, they said part of the issue is the vibrations. your setup looks even less secure and less protected from vibrations and shifting. so either yours faces similar issues or ford is lying, fully admit it could be the latter :p

It barley moves and I drove lots country bumpy roads. As far as measuring how much it charges I'm not a genius on that stuff ?. But on my daily commute the old system would only give me 2-4% charge. Mainly because it would stop charging. The new system does add significantly more charge to the phone. As far a overheating the charger it self has all that tech built into it. And my phone is never hot

I did some tests but phone battery was around 96% which reduces the charging curve

On fast usb charger > from -600mAh to +1600mAh so 2200mAh charging
On the MME pad > from -600mAh to +600mAh so 1200mAh

I will test again later with low battery
