I’m in this boat myself. The 2nd weekend of September I’ve got a long road trip planned and decided to pull the trigger on the A2Z. I can sell it 2nd hand.
Especially as you Canadians are really having to wait!

I've been told by a Ford employee that Lectron makes the NACS adapter for Tesla to provide to Ford. So, as long a Lectron is selling them to those who don't want to wait, there is no sense of urgency to delivery them to Tesla who in turn delivers them to Ford, who eventually sends them to customers. Get the Lectron if you don't want to wait...

And therefore, Sunburned, getting $200 from Ford as you proposed would only ignite more sales at Lectron and exacerbate the issue further, because it is likely that those who get a $200 card from Ford will just go get the Lectron directly putting them further in immediate demand without production capacity to support it. Eventually Lectron creates a back-order / wait list system that is just the same as Ford's today. Then this entire topic and every post gets repeated but only with changes from "Ford" to "Lectron".

If Lectron is the supplier they apparently are not sending enough of the adapters to Tesla, and the only reason I can imagine for that happening is Tesla isn't fulfilling their end of the contract. Meaning, payment. Somebody has to cover The Musk's $53B bonus. I don't expect Ford to ante up either because I suspect this is a cost-sharing arrangement with Tesla. Ford might not be paying anything for them at all.

The information the Ford Employee gave you is highly suspect, since the Brand T adapters are being made by Tesla's own manufacturing facility. ??

Ford has gotten 2 batches from Tesla (the supplier). The first delivered in April, the second delivered in June.

It appears Rivian (who's in the same boat) got a batch in May, then a second in July.

The batches have been small so far (a few thousand). Ford updated to September for the next batch, but unless something big is happening (like an additional supplier?), it's very slow going.
I have held an adapter in my hands that has a Ford logo on the side of it.

Wow, looks to be wrong starting in the first sentence and just gets weirder as it goes. The only part I can agree with is “Get the Lectron if you don't want to wait...” but change it to “Get the A2Z/Lectron if you don't want to wait...”.

Just ordered mine today but I can wait as I got a Ford adapter In the June batch.

I understand there were issues with some of the earlier Lectron adapters. However, I ordered one from Amazon last week and it seems to be just fine. I've used it at two different superchargers without any issue.

The Lectron is physically larger than the A2Z, doesn't come with a case, and also might be more expensive (if you order it from amazon.) However, the Lectron adapter can be had in as little as 1-2 days (via Amazon Prime) while the A2Z is currently several weeks between placing an order and receiving it.

Or just wait a couple years for the Ford one.

On the upside, it seems the Electrify America Chargers have improved tremendously. So, it could be worse. It could be the EA Chargers of 2021 (when I started) and not having a Tesla Adapter. Just looking for the "silver lining".

I recall my 1st interaction with EA in 2021 when I called to let them know a charger was down and she responded "yes, we know about it, it has been down for 3 months". That's when I came to the realization it was going to be a "long" couple of years!!! But now it is so much better!!!

How are other chargers doing? Charge Point, Shell, ect...I pretty much use EA and Tesla. I did use a level 2 (Blink) at a hotel last weekend; flawless but slow. But slow over night I guess is the point.
23cents/kwh I thought was pretty steep for Level 2. The hotels are getting more savy!! No more free charging?

I'm a New York Times reporter (and Mach-E owner) working on a story about the delay in shipping NACS adapters. I'm looking to speak to people still waiting for their adapters to arrive. If you're willing to be interviewed, and have your name in the paper, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks! Jack Ewing

It's getting close to September, I wonder if the adapters will ship?

Shipments were delayed twice already. I don't see how it could possibly happen again. I mean, three delays in a row? The odds are astronomical!

Sounds like Tesla is finally getting adapter production ramped up.
