My wife asked me why the Navigation program usually comes on when our car is started and we then have to manually turn it off. Is there something we are not doing to set the navigation to stay off? It's annoying to have to keep turning it off most of the time after the car is started.

What do you mean by "on"? Sync should start with the main screen on whatever it was on when the car was shut off. The cards along the bottom should have the most recently used apps. If you drag down on the Nav card at the bottom to close it, it shouldn't be there when you next start the car.

That's what I needed to know. How do I "drag down" the card to close it? With my finger?

Thank you so much! It's little things like this that I never was aware of before.
Dragging down to remove the cards is an important thing to know because it allows you to close all the things you don't want to see and strategically organize the cards with what you want to always be visible.

Absolutely! I just didn't know to do this simple thing.

It's like rearranging what I want on the screen of my iMac 27" desktop (which I have now removed all the folders and icons so you can only see the beautiful 5k wallpapers I have from Apple and other vendors of nature, seasons, favorite photos, etc.). I even have the upper and lower bars disappear so there is just the picture until the mouse hovers over the bars to show applications and various task functions.

Why do you want it off? You do realize that it's always on, in the background, tracking the car, right? You can pick any screen to be open when you start the car. Most people want to see where the car is, that's why Navigation is there on most vehicles.

We just got tired of the voice telling us to start a navigation trip so that we have to turn it off every time the car is started. It either starts the directions to the last trip on there or directions to another destination we haven't even programmed. We can turn it on if we need to see where we are but in truth our car is a daily driver so it is around home 90% of the time and we don't need navigation for that (and the other 8% we take it to my daughter's house or the First Division Museum where we volunteer and we know the way to both of those destinations). Probably 2% of the time do we really need navigation and I can turn it on then (or use Waze which my wife prefers). We don't use the car for long trips and instead take our Acura MDX which has its own built in navigation.

Yes, we have tried that but like I said, it sometimes starts a trip which we have not even programmed. It's just annoying and the navigation is not needed most of the time. I'm happy now that I realize how to shut it off. I can turn it on if needs be.

Just so you understand, you're not shutting off anything. You're simply removing the navigation from being visible on the main screen. It's still running. If navigation ever starts a trip on its own, that's because you didn't end the prior trip, and it's trying to get to that destination. In 13 months I've never had the navigation do that.

You can decide whatever screen you want up - radio stations, navigation, etc. by leaving that screen up when you power off.

Rick, I’ve had this happen about 10 times in the 12 months I’ve owned my MME. They were usually short trips but when I ask the car what is my destination it has no answer. I do a verbal “cancel route” until it clears. Maybe it is related to a previous route but for me it wasn’t the last route.
