Is there a way to tell if the feature is enabled at a glance without having to actually fire up the Climate system?

One of our 23s has it and the other doesn't. Both are GTs built in May 2023 and both have the same updates installed on them. I am running iOS 18.0.1 with FP 5.6.0. This is definitely a server thing that Ford is slowly enabling on their side.

But its only drivers seat correct? So my car is set up to do that automatically already.
I'm not sure because it was 22c when I tried it. my AC was on. I didn't start the seats or steering wheel.

mine are set to auto usually. but when it's set to auto both my seats pre-warm on a remote start and also on a departure time.

I'm pretty sure both will warm if selected, much the same as I have experienced previously.

Further support that the feature is not solely determined by the Smartphone OS, or the FordPass version (5.5 vs 5.6), or even the latest OTA being received or not.

There's always that one other invisible and insulated aspect that can be a piece of the confusing puzzle. Motorcraft Cloud Server Side VIN based privileges.

Your client side app might very well possess the necessary code that queries for the "object" (temp control) But the server doesn't return the necessary values to render the object, and therefore they are missing. So until your VIN (credentials) are given privilege for the new feature, the object is locked.

I'm not a developer, so my language could be in error. But the concept is a very real possibility, in my opinion.

You could be missing the feature this morning and it suddenly appear this afternoon, yet nothing has been downloaded or installed in either the vehicle or the phone.

Correct because Apple couldn't use the standard protocol, they finally started so that is resolved. Welcome to RCS, android has been at this party for years. Apple has intentionally degraded Android photos/text for years, your android friends have all been annoyed with you.

Apple has been Tesla, we are special and will use our own port. It's just Tesla won the port battle, Apple lost the port and text battle (we have had usb-c for years)
I thought the issue was security. SMS/MMS aren’t encrypted before leaving the device.

Yep, I am a software developer and that is exactly what is happening. More than likely they are using feature toggles at the VIN level as a rollout strategy.

Not sure the issue to which you are referring. SMS was created before widespread encryption was possible, so it was not created with encryption in mind. RCS is encrypted to the server, but not end-to-end unless the two phones are running Google Messages, which adds an encryption layer.

There are talks about adding end-to-end encryption into the standard but that hasn't happened yet, so RCS messages between Android and iOS devices are not currently encrypted end-to-end. They are still more secure (and a much better experience for users) than SMS/MMS, so it's still progress.

So with probably no way to see if this is enabled at a glance without actually starting the Climate. We will likely just discover it one day when we use the app to start the climate and lo and behold there it'll suddenly be.

I personally use IOS Siri Shortcuts to start my climate. I configured the Action button on my Iphone to bring up the menu of things like. Start my Car, Stop My car, Lock and unlock, etc. I can also just say Hey Siri. Start my car.

Check it out if you haven't already.

Was this a mobile device update or in vehicle update? Still nothing here
To be honest…I have no idea.

i started looking for the feature Tuesday afternoon, and I did not have it.

i already had 1phone 16 pro, 18.1 beta, and Fordoass 5.6.0.

it just showed up this afternoon.

i will say i have had 4 MME updates in the last 4 days, but nothing identifies a ‘FordPass’ update.??‍♂
