Hi everyone.

I just purchased my 2024 VW ID.4 after trading in my 21 Mach-E first edition and I've noticed a few things

ID.4 Pros over Mach-E

Better Seats
WAY better suspension (honestly wasn't expecting a big difference but damm that mach-e does not ride anywhere as nice)
More trunk space
Much better software
Significant range bump (over EPA)
More torque
(probably more reliable too)

ID.4 Cons

Sound system is just eh
no frunk
Travel assist works super good but not handsfree
Doesn't corner as nice
Looks arent as sharp as my old grabber blue mach-e

Honestly, anyone cross-shopping these cars cant go wrong but the ID,4 deal I got was 16k off sticker and over 10k less than the equivalent mach-e

I'm surprised that the software got such a thumbs up. Why does the VW EV have so much software negative press?

And I wasn't aware the ID4 had the Torque of a Mach-E (GTPE?)

But something about them must be good because I certainly see them more often than a Mach-E in my rural part of Texas.

$16k off on a purchase? Not a lease?

That sounds very good. Drive it in good health.

As someone who used to own an ID.4, I disagree with everything here except for more interior space (which is mostly offset by also lacking a frunk).

The two pros you missed that are real though are way better turning radius and way better charging curve.

Overall I hated our ID.4 though. Would not recommend unless you’re able to get a really good deal and know what you’re getting into

The new cars have ID software 4.0 and honestly it's like using my phone it's so snappy. It's not GTPE power but it's more than my E4X had. I think it's more in line with the 24s. 0 to 60 time is similar to older ones but it just seems so much snappier.

Yup I own it outright. Tax credit plus 8500 in incentives from VW and dealer negotiation

I've been in a loaner Ford Escape for like 10 days now and honestly the turning radius seemed similar. Definitely better than the mach-e but I didn't think it was anything crazy.

I honestly think most of the ID.4 issues were from its bad software but the new infotainment is MILES better than the old one and really was the only reason I didn't get one before. New rear motor is very punchy.

I do think the mach-e overall is probably a better vehicle assuming it stays working long enough and not having any more junction box failures.

In a perfect world ford would use VWs new software and charging curve, fix the junction box and leave everything else alone

Actually no where near the MME power\speed specs ....For 2024 models of both, article from Edmunds
"ID.4s equipped with the larger 82-kWh battery pack have a new performance drive unit, and a rear-wheel-drive Pro S like ours produces 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque. That's a mega increase over the prior single-motor ID.4, which made 201 hp and 229 lb-ft. The rear-drive 2024 ID.4 with the smaller 62-kWh battery continues to offer 201 hp and 229 lb-ft.

In our performance testing, the 2024 ID.4 Pro S laid down a 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 14.4 seconds at 96.0 mph. That's a noticeable improvement over the last rear-wheel-drive ID.4 we tested, which took 7.6 seconds to hit 60 mph and 15.8 seconds to run the quarter mile at 85.9 mph. We can feel this result in the real world, too; the ID.4 is much more confident when accelerating onto the freeway.

Adding all-wheel drive to the ID.4 Pro S ups output to 330 hp but keeps the torque figure the same. We don't yet have testing data for this variant, but VW estimates a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds."

It's the price. VW dealers want to unload these things.

Im 99% sure the quoted torque figure is for RWD only. VW doesn't publish awd torque figures for awd. It his higher than RWD though

Interesting thread. I am actively shopping for my first EV. Current contenders are Mach-E, ID4, and Lyriq. Haven't had a chance to look at Ioniq 5 nor Ariya yet.

You downgraded in style, performance, and features (frunk, Blue Cruise) -- so not exactly equivalent. Therefore it seems perfectly logical for the selling price to come in below a MachE.

It's remarkable that in current times we are discussing/debating commuting vehicles with torque numbers 400 and beyond.

I grew up in the "muscle car" era.

Driving up to high school and parking an ID4 on the same row as the cool dudes with the Mach1, Chevelle SS, Road Runner Hemi, GTO...... All with their fat tires with the traction of wood and the glorious exhaust......

I roll up in pure silence and get the WTH is that stares. ???

We are so jaded.
