Kinda shocked that people don't use their frunk. I literally always use the frunk for EVERYTHING because anything I put in the rear moves all the time due to the acceleration. Also, the frunk is amazing for any smelly take out food to keep my cabin smelling fresh. I have the first gen so the frunk is huge and I can haul 95% of my groceries apart from maybe Costco runs.

After using it, it is a non-negotiable for me in any other EV going forward so really sad it isn't getting more love.

Whenever I buy a new car, I think about the tradeoffs of being early or late in the model production... which is usually 5 or 6 years.

If you are early in the production cycle, you have a few more bugs that aren't worked out, but all the cool stuff is there. If you are late in the production cycle, the bugs are worked out, but the bean counters ensure that de-contenting has been implemented and some cool stuff is gone.

here are a few that come to mind on the MME
kick to open hatch
self parallel park
AM radio (left but came back)
and now the Frunk tub.

And then if you could put a few support braces and a flat bottom that would fit a certain size cooler or duffel bag secured with straps or bungy cords in there instead of the big plastic piece.

A psuedo-frunk lol
The 2025 and beyond frunks are the size they are due to the changes in components. There’s a larger radiator which had to be tilted to get it to fit, plus the heat pump. The physical frunk tub material doesn’t reduce the available space appreciably. Creating a pseudo frunk will allow for maybe a 4 pack and a beach towel.

I have 2024 so at some point I'll need to view the small frunk in person just to comprehend how small it is.

I would like to see it without frunk and without any plastic cover. I think that's what people are wondering if it will be just pipes wires hoses etc.

But someone won't have a cooler or duffel bag and just put a 12 pack of coke unsecured which breaks open on a bump and gums up the works. So Ford can't have a "no-plastic-non-frunk" option. Thanks a lot guys
Go look at other EVs. You will find many with a) no plastic cover and b) just open space.

2025 Lyriq lost the frunk cover.

It seems many that get takeout use it. We don't get takeout...

Groceries work fine in the back, why use the frunk?

Our frunk is basically full. Mobile charger, adapters, blanket, fire extinguisher, trim tools, pair of winter gloves, some other stuff. I almost never open it. But I use the Lightning frunk all the time.

Here's another reason to not use the frunk - inaccessibility.

We have a 3 car garage, and use the double bay for the vehicles. It is 20 feet deep. Lightning frunk cannot be opened in the garage, so we park outside, open it, unload, and then pull in. That's why we often use the bed (with cover) and put things in a large black tub. Can't unload much from backseat either given door would possibly hit Mach-E if it bumps past the first stop.

The Mach-E of course is shorter, but noses right up to some shelves, and has limited space to walk on either side of it with anything bulky that might hit either vehicle. Much easier to pull in, plug in, open trunk, and unload.

So, for me, the frunk is the most convenient storage compartment for the exact opposite reason. I have a very small, narrow one-car garage. When I park, the nose of the car is directly across from the door between the garage and mudroom, so I load groceries, and anything else, into the frunk. When I get home, I pull into the garage, open the frunk from the screen, exit and plug in the car, then unload everything from the frunk straight into the house. I’ll never get an EV without a frunk.
