These articles show that the Mach E is not going to Australia in 2022. This is important because if there's one thing Australia is famous for its sunshine. It's hard to think Ford isn't working on a foothold there.

There are a few in the lists that I've never heard of.

This is how I understand AU car sales but I could be wrong...someone correct me if I am.

Part of the issue in AU is their LCT or luxury car tax. The way I understand it this forces you to pay 33% tax on any fuel efficient vehicle over about $56k US or normal vehicle over $49k US.

Add 10% GST to that and now you have 43% tax... A Mach E GT or premium extended range would surpass this threshold. There would be increased costs to develop a few new features (AU style turn indicators, etc) and increased transportation costs. So you may only have selects that wouldn't have the tax apply.

A fully loaded GTPE could easily cost $140k AUD (nearly $100k US). This means sales are likely to be way lower. Ford does sell a Mustang coupe in AU but it is only the highest trim 401A Mustang GT Premium and those cost over $100k AUD to purchase.

Bottom line I think they're waiting because the market is small considering the price with the tax and they have to jump through some hoops to sell there when they can't meet demand worldwide already.
