Anybody see this on Sync when selecting “Software Updates?” It never clears. Waited more than a minute or so …

Not seeing any cell bars, click on connectivity and make sure you have a LTE signal.

12V reset usually fixes connectivity problems.

To fix this, you will need to disconnect the negative cable from your 12v battery for 20 minutes. A fuse pull or module reset with FORScan will not work.

If the 20 minutes doesn't work, you likely need a new TCU.

Thank you again everybody. The 20 minute battery disconnect did the trick. The software updates settings page is back up and running.

I had the same problem today and the battery disconnect did the trick for me. There should be a better way to reset the modem.

I had the same problem today and the battery disconnect did the trick for me. There should be a better way to reset the modem.
Modules can be reset with forscan or fdrs, but it won't fix this particular issue. Only the battery disconnect will. I don't know why, but it's the only thing that works. It's also believe the GWM is what causes this and not the modem itself.

If I recall correctly this is referred to as a "Logic Lock" scenario. It's happened on Mach-Es and Lightnings both....and it's always fixed by disconnecting the 12V battery briefly.

I had the same problem today and the battery disconnect did the trick for me. There should be a better way to reset the modem.
I installed one of these two years ago because the MME 12V battery was such a PITA to get to. If I need to do a reset for some reason, I just press the remote to off, wait a minute or so, and turn it back on. Works great and doesn't adversely affect the 12V battery by discharging it or anything.
