How do you react to your ICE owner friends complaining about high gasoline prices? Do you just frown and nod your head? Smirk and brag about charging at lower, consistent prices? Or?

Did anyone see the YouTube video comparing gasoline prices to charging in Los Angeles, CA? He drove a RAM V8 pickup down to near empty and filled it up at the most expensive gas station he could find. It cost him some $130 and took only 10 minutes to complete. Then he took his Cyber Truck out and did the same. It cost him only $58 at the most expensive Supercharger he could find. It took him a hour to "fill" up. The station was busy which probably slowed things. Both trucks ended up with similar mileage.

Because the CyberTruck owner wasn't capable of doing simple math on either, and wanted to get views to his videos. This is the curse of social media upon us all.

Sadly, gasoline is not the only commodity going up. Our electric provider is raising their rates again and our natural gas provider will soon follow. Anything made with plastic will have to cost more. Expect tires and lubricants to go up.

Owning an EV is helpful right now, yes, but there will still be cost increases.

I had been planning a 2,000 mile camping trip in my Sprinter van this year, but now it's going to be 1,000 miles instead.

I just say nothing. High gas prices are still bad for all of us. It's costs are going to trickle down into nearly everything we buy AND transport.

I'd rather see the war end than gloat about gas prices...

Good time to invest in solar. It's the free electricity that keeps on giving.

Seeing those prices in Calgary is a good reminder why I switched. It’s a relief to just plug in at home and skip the lines. Definitely saves a lot of stress.

Without running the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, and this is not a political post but is an independent observation of how democracy works, “We”, collectively by our democratic systems irrespective who we actually voted for, vote into power those who rule for us for a period of time and they can’t be expected to rule by a committee of millions deciding on every single issue so when our leaders start wars they do so with a mandate for and on behalf of us and so vicariously war IS our choice whether we agree on that particular issue or not, hold opinions for or against it.

So we need to just suck it up until next voting time😁

I’d have solar tomorrow but the political climate here at Stangy Towers is such that wifey overrules me on this issue and I don’t want to go to war with the “enemy” on that particular issue 😂

I have to be content with Stangy, cheap & convenient refuelling and an air source heat pump in favour of transported in heating fuel.

No democracy doesn't work this way. Branches of government are supposed to work together, and provide protections than no branch uses authority not granted to it. It's a system of checks and balances. Unfortunately, Congress has been spineless for years.

I tell them:

I'm paying the same to charge at home today as I did when I brought the MME home 14 months ago
($0.19 per kwh fully delivered overall average...yeah it's a mouthful, but it's what it is) .

I also happen to know the lifetime per-mile fuel costs for all three of our vehicles.

Mach-E: $0.06/mile (14 month history)

Beetle: $0.10/mile (8 year history: 4 cyl ICE)

Wrangler: $0.17/mile (7 year history: 6 cyl ICE)

This is fuel cost only.

Public charging excepted, EV fuel cost is invariant.

Gas (87 octane for both) has varied by more than $2/gallon during this ownership period.

It's just fuel costs.

It's also facts.

It wasn’t very long ago I was paying $185 to fill up my truck. Currently it’s about $145. It’s not that bad for a truck that can tow 10,000 lbs and go 400 miles between fillups at the same time.

hmm I think I saw this video... it was $300 to fill... not $130.
