I polished mine to a near perfect mirror finish. It came scratched to hell from the dealer. Used a Torq 10FX random orbital polisher with a 3" pad. It was tough to get the bottom perfect due to the door handle.

No coating was removed from polishing, right?

I had PPF put on mine too. He covered the lock keypad but it works fine through the PPF.

I'm sure a tiny layer of the clear coat was removed. That's basically how polishing works. The first "cut" removes swirls and small surface scratches, but leaves the surface a little hazy. A final polish stage restores the glossy, mirror finish.

I certainly would not want to do this many times because the clear coat is soft and probably not very deep.

I also purchased the glossy black PPF from OCDPlug and will keep it on hand just in case.

Just making sure there's no colored coating. I've screwed up cheap plastic in the past that had a black colored coating on top.

Ordered right away. Just noticed the swirls and a single scratch on the pillars yesterday. Surprising how weak the coat is but my other cars get it too(other manufacturers). Just didn't care about the other car looks as much as this baby. Only did PPF on the front up to the doors so nothing on there but I did ceramic the whole car. Will add and receramic after. Thanks for the post. BTW, Coupon code BUNDULL is not just for the two screen covers, it's for any order over $50 but code SAVE10 is better

Did you polish over the door keypad as well?

I installed these (glossy) on my car too. I must say they look fantastic, mirror like shine!

The only downside is the fingerprints. Even with clean/dry hands if you touch these, like when closing the door, now you have really obvious fingerprints.

Yes I did.
Just a FWIW for folks.

My car has barely been on the island for a month at this point (having spent 6 weeks sitting in San Diego): water spots, and very fine scratches on the pillars. I had my MME at the detailers this past week for ceramic coating. The detailer spent a lot of time carefully lightly polishing these panels. What she said is that the clear coat on those panels is very thin. There are now several coats of CeramicPro on the pillars, but the OCDplug wraps might be a good idea for most people unless you're exceedingly careful like @MurphyDog was or my detailer was.

Car wraps and 17 degrees North Latitude don't mix particularly well here so, it's not a realistic option for me.

Not being argumentative at all. Genuinely curious. Why don’t car wraps work down in the tropics?

UV light is several magnitudes higher than in the rest of the country, even places like Arizona with their 13 months per year of living in the 8th circle of Dante's hell. ;)

That light ages paint, houses, tires, vinyl warps (ppf and color warps), plus people quite rapidly. Not one detailer will do it any longer, and while there is a competent source for PPF on the island (exactly one), they're snowbirds. Every detailer (etc) I've talked to about ppf or wraps requires customers to sign a waiver when they come in and ask for it to be removed. They tend to take part of the paint with them when removed. Sign companies will do advertising wraps on vehicles, but usually only on their vertical surfaces. Short lifespans due to the UV. The heat, salt, and high temps don't help I'm sure.

This is not a universal thing out here though, Oahu has a very good Xpel shop and people are rather happy with them. But they're a fair bit cooler and further north. Even though I'm in upcountry with very mild Santa Barbara like temps much of the year, UV is even higher up here at 1340m/4400 ft. It's another reason why white is an extremely sensible color choice around here for cars. I picked IB.

Oh, and it's a small market here with just about 200,000 people spread out in an area larger than Delaware and Rhode Island combined (This island is roughly the size of Connecticut). So finding anything that makes sense is a chore. ;)

I suspect that this may be changing as these wraps getter better and more UV resistant.

Dealer scratched mine up washing/drying the car. I was planning on just using a white foam pad and a final polish.
