So many people here getting so technical on whether or not Ford met a deadline acting as if they've never missed a deadline in their life. What a bunch of whiners. Deadlines get missed. Get over it.

I was responding to what you posted. Let's look at the full text:

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified via first class mail after dealers have received software installation instructions. It is anticipated that customer letters will begin in the first quarter of 2022. Customers may receive a general notification via mail, email, or FordPass prior to receiving software availability letters.

They may have started sending out the letters via snail mail on or before 3/31. We'll have to wait and see if they arrive and when they were dated/postmarked. That's an unknown, not a miss -- yet.

☑ Customers may receive a general notification via mail, email, or FordPass prior to receiving software availability letters.
Post #6 in this thread notes that the letter will be mailed the week of April 11th.

OWNER NOTIFICATION MAILING SCHEDULE
Owner letters are expected to be mailed the week of April 11, 2022. Owners will be given the option of installing the software update themselves, or they can have their dealer perform the service for them. Customers will be encouraged to ensure their vehicle is configured to receive updates via OTA.

Look, I agree with you Ford again missed their goals on BlueCruise. It was a valiant attempt but they failed to deliver to customers. However, you seem to keep moving the goalposts. Let's look at Ford's statements and your claims:

Did owners start receiving them? Yes. We have at least a dozen members here who made it through the upgrade path and are using BlueCruise now.

Did you or I get it? No. However, there is no question that owners started receiving BlueCruise via OTA.

R21G013 went out to dealers in Q1. It's here on the Forum.
Did the letter say people will receive it in response to the letter? Nope.

Letters began in Q1. I received this on 3/18:
Screen Shot 2022-04-01 at 11.10.35 AM.png

Unfortunately, Ford seems to have had to abandon the execution of this plan. But they sent the letter to all of their EAP customers -- in Q1.

☑ "Owners... will start receiving their BlueCruise... in the first quarter of 2022".

☑ "It is anticipated that the complete dealer bulletin announcing this upcoming action (i.e. 21G01) will be provided to dealers in the first quarter of 2022, once the Ford Power-Up software update is available in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS)."

☑ "It is anticipated that customer letters will begin in the first quarter of 2022"

Hmmm.
Thank you for the considered reply. While I too, am disappointed I’m not getting the remote frunk release, I think we all have to remember that we represent a small population of early adopters with vehicles that needed multiple updates. What I do fault ford on is a poor owner communication program. It’s tough to balance how much communication to send and when, but I think more, and clearer communications would have helped.
Oh, and the same comments go for BlueCruise ?

Or not giving credit where credit is due. Ever submit your taxes online or mail the form on April 15? Guess what, that qualifies!

I always mail mine on April 1 so that if anything comes up, I can just blame the date and say I was joking.

(this is not true)

Ford Mustang Mach-E Optional Product Improvement Program 21G01 - BlueCruise Programming kool-aid-oh-yeah

Sorry, I quoted from multiple sources regarding the owner's letter not mailing until 4/11, backing up a statement with facts from the Ford communication to dealers. I apologize for mixing facts in with forum member's posts, it won't happen again.

I understand the spirit of this, but it's very important to recognize that the end-owner updates for Sync 3 were for just the APIM... so the ultimate risk was relatively low. A bricked Sync could be solved by you driving the car to the dealer and having them fix it.

Screwing up FDRS is a lot more likely for a "normal person" and has a much greater impact.
Wasn't the 1.7.1 update a sync update? This caused an issue that took almost 6 months to fix because they couldn't get that OTA?

We need power supplies.

And when we screw the car up and it has to be towed, and ...

This will never happen.
Plenty of people have chosen to go this route already,. I think I heard only one case where the update failed and caused an issue. All in saying is, if this update is available and people choose to apply it themselves, why charge them for the ability to do the work? In the end it saves Ford money if people do their own updates.

And for those who do not want to do them, it frees up resources for dealers to help these people.

There's a world of difference between a quick PCM or TCM update and the slew of modules that need to be updated on our MMEs.
The code might be vastly different and there may be a difference in the magnitude of the update, but the idea of plugging something in and following prompts is the same...

I never submit my tax returns before July. But I do submit the extension by April 15, so I get what you mean.

that’s good to know. It would be great if in FDRS you could just connect directly to the GWM via USB or Ethernet and push the updates simlar to how they are pushed OTA. Then updates would at least be faster for the modules that can be updated OTA.

I believe 1 did, @Mirak
Yup. My review coming soon.

It's M time up to 8 hours as it says on the labor allowances. More time is allotted for certain scenarios that will cause more time. They will be able to bill up to 8 hours of actual time for this campaign. 90% of dealers will bill all 8 hours even if they took less...thats how it seems to me at least looking at claims. They'll also bill the 0.5 road test time even if they don't road test it.
That's great but only because Ford wants Bluecruise up and running are they willing to pay those times.

Absolutely! Those GM "We Will Rock You" commercials must be driving Ford execs up the walls.
