thanks a lot, yeah would really appreciate it!

The double honk happens if you exit the car and shut the door with fob/phone in pocket while the car is still on. Doesn’t matter if I haven’t even moved an inch away from the car, as soon as the door shuts,

H O N K ! H O N K !

Very annoying when rushing for work during the morning hours and I forgot my coffee or something. I can’t be the only one who deals with this every now and then when leaving my apartment complex at 4:00 in the morning.

Also, the in-car startup/seatbelt/door chimes are much too excessive. 2-4 chimes is reasonable, but more often than not, I count almost 8-10 chimes for very minor things like turning the car on without a seatbelt or opening a door with the car on. The loud, repeated bassey notes are particularly painful with tinnitus.

if you don’t mind, I have a few other feature requests/improvements I’d like to share whenever you get to speak to him!

Another very important feature I think would be a vehicle lock/unlock indicator in the FordPass app. One of my friend’s Hyundai has this in their app, and it’s extremely useful for confirming that the car did in fact auto lock itself after walking away from it. Right now, all it says is “vehicle parked” with isn’t very useful.

A “door/liftgate/frunk open” banner would also be very handy if someone forgot and left a door slightly cracked - especially the frunk, which requires a really firm hand to properly shut. Nothing crazy, just a small note somewhere in the app reading “door open” or “frunk open”. Hyundai’s equivalent app has vehicle lock/unlock indicators, as well as door open/close indicators for quickly checking and making sure everything’s shut tight and alright, so maybe the Ford team can take some notes from Hyundai’s app and implement something similar for checking vehicle security in FordPass.

I don’t know if this is possible, but would be much nicer to not have to punch in the entire door key code every time I want to open the frunk when the car is already unlocked or I’m standing right by the car, hands full, with fob and PAAK in pocket. Since the frunk has no external access point, making the 7/8 button press a one-touch operation when conditions are met would be sweet. Just like I can open the liftgate with a single button press on the rear when the car is already unlocked or the fob/PAAK happen to be nearby, making the exterior frunk access point a one-touch interaction under the same circumstances would really improve the usability/accessibility of the frunk!

Also on accessing the frunk: I think it would be much better to have the frunk and trunk buttons always visible on the center screen whenever in park, so that we don’t have to tap the settings icon, then wait 2-5 seconds for the icons to load before we can open the trunk/frunk from inside the car. The icons can gray out or even disappear entirely when driving, but as soon as we shift into park, both the trunk and frunk icons should immediately appear at the top row of the screen, without us having to first tap the settings icon. Would make opening both the trunk and the frunk from the inside much easier and quicker, especially considering that the center screen will shut off immediately as soon as a door is opened after powering off the car. Since those touch screen buttons are the only electronic access points inside the car for both the frunk and trunk, they should always be readily accessible wherever the vehicle is put in park.

Another Hyundai-inspired feature: when reversing, the rear camera turns on. Nothing different there. But when you shift into drive, the front camera comes on, and stays on until you reach a certain speed (probably 5-10 miles)! Right now, every time I shift into drive just to nudge a couple of inches forward, I have to tap the camera icon again so that I can see what’s near my front splitter. So I find myself tapping the camera icon every couple of seconds just to inch a little forward before switching to reverse again. Having the front camera come on and stay on when shifting into drive until you get to a certain speed would make parking into tight spaces much easier. I’ve always found Ford’s backup camera system to be the most accurate and easiest to use, just need this minor tweak would make it 10x better.

Last thing I can think of at the moment is the remote start timeouts. It cuts off whenever the frunk is opened, and you’re only allowed a total of two remote starts before it demands that you drive the car. I assume this is a legacy carry over from polluting ice vehicles, and such limitations are not necessary on the Mustang Mach E.

There’s no exposed engine under the frunk hood, so I don’t see why the car can’t be remote started and stay on when the frunk is opened, just like it can be remote started and stay on when the trunk is opened. Would be nice to be able to remotely start the vehicle and fully load up the frunk while the car is cooling/heating itself (just like when loading the trunk), without having to open the door manually start the car to keep it going.

Since there’s no polluting emissions coming out of this car that would a threaten anyone’s respiratory systems, I don’t see any problem with expanding the number of remote starts you’re allowed to have before driving the vehicle. The car shuts itself down after a while anyway, so it’s not like it’s going to be running all night. But I’ve had situations in the winter where it takes at least two remote starts to get the car sufficiently heated up. One day, I had to leave early for something, but couldn’t remote start the car as I had already used up the two remote starts the previous day to melt the ice off the glass. Removing the extremely limiting 2 remote start attempts would be awesome, especially for unexpected circumstances during cold climates.

Thank you so much, apologies for the really long thread! ? Gotta catch em when we can!

Let us know when you speak to him next!
I'll add my subjective opinion, the honks and chimes don't bother me at all.

The seatbelt chimes i also thought were excessive at first, but i would prefer if they only activated after putting the car in drive (or reverse). I prefer to hit the start button, then put my seatbelt on, because it takes the car a few seconds to start. On the other hand i think all my cars chime on start without seatbelt. But i just live though the chimes, don't even think about it anymore. I also have a bit of tinnitus.

Regarding honks, i have chirp on walk away lock on, which i like, but it's an option. I wouldn't mind some kind of chirp on paak unlock, because i am standing there mashing the door button. I don't think i get any other honks. Did not change with forescan. 23 model.

I wonder if the issue is different years, different stereo systems, or different expectations? The seat belt chimes are a safety feature and i expect it to annoy me.

My wife has issues with the car double honking at her, but it never seems to happen to me. What causes it?

I had a Hyundai Kona EV and Ioniq 5 before the Mach-E. Overall, I like the MME better than both, but I fully agree with all these Hyundai-inspired potential improvements! Let’s go Ford. Some of these should be low hanging fruit!

She leaves the key in her purse in the car when she gets out.
It definitely has something to do with this. She says sometimes she’ll throw her purse with the keys in the backseat, close the door, then go to open the front door to start driving and it honks at her in the meantime since she closed the back door and it thinks she’s walking away. I think she just needs to change her habits lol.

The Forscan thing is quite simple, perhaps someone around you that can toggle that bit. It's seriously 4 digits in an app and they're gone. It's been life changing. lol

The Forscan thing is quite simple, perhaps someone around you that can toggle that bit. It's seriously 4 digits in an app and they're gone. It's been life changing. lol
Two questions from me:

  • Is there a (recent-ish) Forscan tutorial for newer owners of Mach-E? I'm reasonably techy and would like to disable double honk and otherwise benefit from Forscan.
  • With the updates -- has anyone had the charging locations deleted and been unable to add them back? I called Ford EV line and they said this is a known/common issue and it normally comes back in a couple of days. Wondering if this conforms to others' experiences.

When this happens, delete the saved location. Then charge again for ~15 to 30 min. You should then be able to save it again. Check the car vs FP app, sometimes they don't talk to each other so one might show something the other doesn't see. It's an issue with charge times as well, those have to be done in the car to actually work.

Thank you /u/azerik for the quick response.

Will review the Forscan video with interest particularly related to the double honk disable.

My car does not currently have any saved locations post-update (they all got deleted)...but I haven't been able to have a long charging session as I haven't driven much this week and don't want to charge the battery past its current level of 91%. I'll drive more this weekend, plug in for a 30 minute charge, and follow your advice. Will report back.

Yea that makes sense. A simple highlight of the locked or unlocked button in the app to show the state would be nice.
Apparently there are some technical issues with the current gen Mach-e in this. Not insurmountable but issues.

In addition, I’ve been told there were disagreements among users (not the FordPass staff) as to how to show the locked status. It resembled a religious war. Some insisted a simple highlight of the door current status (lock or unlock) was best while an equal number vehemently insisted the highlight should be on the button that would work when you press it (eg if the door is locked the highlight should be on the unlock icon). Really.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Is that a blue cruise update for cars that already had 1.3 from last year?
