I had my first incident the other day when picking up doggo from the kennel, and it just refused to work; i ended up using the passcode. Job 2 car, delivery just a couple weeks ago, it had been working fine. Everything is working now, but it took closing FP, rebooting the phone, and walking away for a couple hours so I knew the phone was out of Bluetooth range of the car.

Mine would not work at all yesterday, no idea when it stopped working as I take the fob to drive.

I've had the car refuse to use PAAK exactly twice over a year. I keep a fob in a faraday bag hidden (in a very bizarre location) in the car for that reason. Both times I was able to use the backup start code to get the car started. Coincidentally, one of the failures was yesterday morning out here. Subsequent starts were fine yesterday.

Mine did, too, on Thursday. Having trouble reconnecting after clearing data.

My PAAK was working fine for months. As of yesterday, it stopped working. Every attempt to re-activate has failed. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
It usually is temporary. Should start working again eventually. I find that PaaK works pretty well about 30% or 40% of the time. Random failures are normal IMO...

I have only had the problem come up once in my 20 days of ownership now, but I found that deleting the phone from the car and the car from the phone and repairing everything solved the problem.

Now if I could only figure out why the memory seat settings sometimes links to the key fob and goes to the correct position while other times it does not go to the correct position and I have to press the button on the door panel to get it to go to the right position. This has been happening both before I originally set up PAAK and after I set up PAAK and i always have the same key fob on me when getting into the car that was locked before opening the door.

Mine stopped working today out of the blue. It had been working great lately. This is unusual and I thought maybe Ford did something or a server went out or something. It worked fine last night going out to dinner. Today - nothing, like it never existed. Haven’t yet gone through the troubleshooting/reset procedures.

The good news - the backup start code worked every time and the entry screen appeared rather quickly - also unusual.

I tried to get it working once. Now, I pretend it isn't supposed to be a feature of my car.

There, no worries.

Seriously, does anyone think this will work with the phones owners will have 8, 12, 18 years from now? Stupid idea doomed to fail sooner or later because another company makes a change a decade from now.

So, step one of troubleshooting worked. I closed the FordPass app and reopened it - e voilà - started working again.

Hello All,

If you’re an Android user and are having issues with the reliability of Phone as a Key, first check that battery optimization is not turned on and you have selected the option “allowing the battery to be used in the background without restrictions” for FordPass in your device’s settings. Please refer to your device’s help resources for more specific instructions, as these steps may vary depending on the make and model of your Android smartphone.

I've been having "Key not detected" sporadically for the last 2 weeks now, after having almost zero issues for the previous 6 months. When I open FordPass, the windows/hatch buttons aren't active either, so there's no BT communication. I've been able to reset it by turning off bluetooth, force closing FP, re-enabling BT, then re-opening FP. Annoying for sure, when it has been working so well for so long.

Hi there! Can you send us a PM with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I’d be happy to look into this Mach-E concern on my end.

Unfortunately I need battery optimization turned on or else my phone battery might not last the day. It's more important that my cell functions as a mobile device vs a car key so my employer requests that setting to be turned on if I want to have FordPass on my company issued device.

On the bright side....
My employer switched cellular carriers yesterday so we all got new phones. PaaK now works pretty darn good on my old phone now that it doesn't have any cell service. I even turned off the WiFi connection and the only thing running is Bluetooth and it seems to work every time now. I've tried it about a dozen times so far and only a few of those times did I have to press the door button more than once. Have not had to remove the phone from my pocket yet. Go figure.... ??
