I have used Phone as a key exclusively a few times (left the fob at home) but as a general rule I always carry the fob with me too because without the fob the door locks seem to take a couple of extra seconds to connect and operate and it's just enough of a cause to scare that it's not going to work.
Do most of you on this forum carry the fob in a belt and suspenders state of mind?
I have my door code, and the secret start code and even the instructions on using the codes in my phone, but I still can't wean myself from the fob.
What's the consensus here?

3 years, The FOB only gets used if someone else has to drive it (tire shop primarily). PaaK only otherwise. Codes are the backup.

4.5 years and I never carry a FOB, I take it out of town on a weeks vacation with no FOB. My wife she still carrys fobs even though she has PaaK, for all I know her fob battery is dead and she is carrying it for no reason.

I carry the fob because it’s on the keychain for others keys. So why not
I am always surprised people still carry keys/wallet. PaaK, tap and pay, and a $20 bill stashed under the charging mat in the car. I dont need anything else!

I've been driving my Mach E for more than 5 years and have always used PaaK only.

My just in case is a fob stored hidden in the car with the battery removed and stored elsewhere in the car. I have never had to resort to the fob in 4-1/2 of those 5 years. I did have to resort to the fob early during ownership before Ford modified the way PaaK and backup codes work in areas where there is no cell coverage. The only reason I carry the fob is if I need to drop it off for service, want someone else to drive the car without me, or if I don't want to bother with the valet code.

And test your custom backup codes from time to time. I have a calendar reminder to test them quarterly. A couple of OTAs have dumped the custom codes from the car's memory. OTAs cannot dump the factory codes.

I haven't had a fob stashed in the mach-e for ages now. No real need.

100% After I bought the Mach-E, I installed biometric locks on my house. Viola! No keys.

same here except i have had to use the fob twice when PaaK had issues (last was an android issue over 1.5yrs ago). having a solid backup plan can reduce your anxiety if you have it. remember to test your door code and backup start code every once in a while too.

PaaK has been solid for the last 1.5yrs but i also want a fob in car for the additional reasons mark notes.

a partially dead 12v battery (where it isn't dead enough to allow the front trunk release to work) is the achilles heel now. **knocks on wood**

Use PAAK only, but it often takes at least a few seconds. Some times I have to unlock my phone. On rare occasions I even have to open the app. It can be frustrating, but I have gotten used to not having to have the key on me, and I like that.
