My Grizzl-E overheats in the Florida sun. I have wrapped it in a towel and the issue has abated but I do not think this is a good permanent solution.

My Grizzl-E overheats in the Florida sun. I have wrapped it in a towel and the issue has abated but I do not think this is a good permanent solution.

Its manufacturer says it can operate at up to 122 F. Do you have an infrared thermometer or some other way to measure its temp when it is overheating?

This is concerning since it doesn't get anywhere near 122 in Florida.

Something to consider trying -- reduce the output amperage if you are okay with doing that (*), and see if that prevents the overheating.

(*) as in, you're okay with shutting off the breaker, opening the Grizzl-E panel, and flipping the dip switches; AND you're okay with fewer miles regained into your car per hour of charging

It'll get much hotter than ambient being painted black in direct sunlight, much like how you can cook an egg on black top.
