My kid pointed this out to me as we backed out of garage. She said that it has always done that. As soon as I put it in drive it works. Ill double check but I think the drivers side does work while I back out.

None of the hvac controls work while in reverse. But just to be clear, it’s only the control that is disabled. If the seat heaters are on before you put the car in reverse, they will continue to function even when you drive backwards.

I believe you're able to change the fan speed when the backup camera is active (which is really why the HVAC controls don't work - the video feed is layered on top of the HVAC controls). I'm not entirely sure if the cabin temperature controls are changeable then, but the seat heat controls definitely don't work.

The video feed does not block the HVAC controls at all. But that got me curious, so I just went out and tried it. All sliders are disabled, but things that have a +/- to tap on still work. So you can hit the +/- to adjust the fan speed or the temp. You can also turn the heated seats onto or off of Auto, but you can't control the level. This functionality may have been added in the recent HVAC module update.

Pretty sure that’s part of the recent update. Before this none of the HVAC controls worked while the back up camera was on.

Was kinda annoying since the first things I do when I get in the car is go in reverse to back out of the garage and then adjust the AC.

It’s not a new feature, my daughter noticed the seat heater issues a while back but we did see you could put it in auto and I have changed temp as well, prior to blue cruise updates. Never really bothered us because we just turn right around and drive foreward pretty quickly (even though my driveway is a little over a 1/4mile ?)

Perhaps build a garage for the Mustang Mach E at the end of your driveway and drive your daughter to the Mustang in another vehicle with seat heaters that can be adjusted while the vehicle is in reverse?
I’m just trying to think of a practical solution for your unique use case
???
Or, perhaps just do what most of the large estates near me do and put in a circular drive?
???

Speaking of backing up, sometimes my ā€˜22 GT does not enjoy banking up our 25% grade street… It will do it, but sometimes there is virtually no power at all. Seems like it might be related to steering wheel position, but I’m not sure. I should do some specific tests to see if I can characterize when it happens… (But one thing I can assure you, when I’m maneuvering on this hill, I’m not adjusting the HVAC!)
