Phone gets very warm when using charging pad in Mach-E

When I use the charging pad in the Mach E my phone gets very warm. Do you have the same ecperience?

Yes. My trips are 20-40 minutes so it is not too bad but the phone is definitely warm.

If your phone is an iPhone 12 or 13 there might be a fix if you take your car to the dealer and complain.

All wireless charging creates a ton of waste heat. Using CarPlay (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi) also generates heat. Both together can be A LOT of heat.

I made a couple posts to that thread as I discovered things but the gist is: I find my phone which is in a thick, rubber-surfaced case does better when I remove the rubber mat/devider from the phone charging tray. I think the combined thickness of the case plus the mat kept the phone too far from the charging coils, and the non-skid properties of the phone case make the rubber mat unnecessary. Your experience may vary.

Take your car to your dealer and have them perform the software update on the WACM (charger). It make a big difference in temperature for me, still gets fairly warm but not burning hot anymore.
