Question: did you have any updates on the Ford Tracker, Palsapp or any other rando trucking web site that could tell you where your car was in the intervening month? my car hit that yard on 9/28 but its been crickets in any of those tools since then ... and my dealer isn't the most cooperative in telling me where the car is when I ask. Just curious whether you knew anything before your car just showed up a month later....
No updates online. The dealer can give you updates through the visibility report. I was able to get several location updates when it was traveling by rail and then when it was loaded onto the truck for final delivery.

Thanks -- must be nice to have a dealer who doesn't mind giving you updates.

Once I found out from Ford it shipped (and via the online tracking tool with the VIN) I didn't get anything for a couple of weeks. Once it hit KC, I saw palsapp update with delivered. After that, I didn't see anything again for awhile. I contacted my sales rep and he gave me a few updates (like it was in WY, then on the way to Denver). OVISS showed that it made it to CO on 10/1, but then I saw no updates on that (and it actually said cancelled shipping). Then the online tracking tool updated twice with ETAs moving from 10/26 to 10/9, then to 10/5 on the morning I got it.

And yes, the sales rep/dealer has way more information in his tool. While I was sitting there I asked him how many other GTs were coming in. He pulled it up and searched, and saw a dozen or two. And he could see which ones were on Chip Hold (interestingly, they were ALL grabber blue models, with different order/production dates), which ones were shipped, which ones hadn't started yet, etc. I'd seriously stop by the dealer and make him pull it up for you if you aren't getting info from him! My guy was actually really responsive to giving me updates if I emailed him and asked.

Yeah maybe a visit from me might be more effective. As if I don't have anything else to do with my day though.... Like literally I just need the dude to read me a computer screen.

All I can say is I forgot how freakin' long it takes to buy a car! Overall the experience at Phil Long went exceedingly smooth, other than it taking nearly 4 hours. Got there, and the car was still in detailing, so we walked over to check it out. Our immediate reaction was pure joy. Went back to his office and filled out paperwork for the financing. Then we seriously sat there for what seemed like an hour as we waited for financing. We gave them our X-Plan PIN, and they took the $1000 off, ho questions asked. They came in and asked if we wanted to do normal financing, or the Ford Options plan. I hadn't read much about that, so they gave me numbers for a 36 month "lease" with that. It was a 2.4% loan for the 36 months, but the numbers to me didn't add up. It looks like that option cost about $4k more than buying it outright -- they don't tell you that, of course, but I compared the totals with interest for a 72 month loan, versus the 36 month option with a 36 month loan at the same 2.4%...it was $4k more. So we went with the loan.

Then we waited again. They finally got the car ready, so we got to take it on a test drive. So much fun, and it drove great with good handling. It's been 5 months since we drove the Premium, so I don't know how much different it was...but it's smooth, not overly bumpy with the bigger wheels, and has some punch! My wife pulled up next to a Tesla Model S Plaid...pretty sure she wanted to try and take it, I told her not to even try, lol! Got back from that and put it on the charger. Then we had to wait even longer for financing. Ugh. They finally came, signed the paperwork, and out!

From the picture, I am guessing that you took this at Dakota Ridge HS parking lot. Just south of you in Ken-Caryl. Now, Ford says my silver GT PE should arrive 11/11. I think I might have better luck with the powerball or Afghan Airport Bonds.
Technically the Foothills Rec lot next to DRHS :p

I feel ya. Any time I've tried to reach out to my dealer either via a call or email, it's no less than 10 days to get back to me and its always some new excuse. "I was on vacation" or "I had the flu" or any number of other excuses. I'm telling you, I'm in the wrong business if new car managers get this much PTO

How easy is it to apply yourself? I haven't gotten a quote yet, but $70 seems like a great deal if it's easy to put on yourself!
I did this on 2 cars so far with their product. Took me about 4 hours each time including washing, ipa wipedown, any last minute corrections (this will take a LOT longer on a non-new car), and application / wipe smooth. Note that you REALLY need to change lighting angles several times to "see" all the high spots that need to be wiped smooth otherwise once it sets it becomes much harder to smooth it out (though still possible via polishing). Most shops would charge about $1,000 to do this level of work. But it's essentially close to a well done wax coating. This one just happens to last for years instead of only months. :)

That's interesting....that doesn't work out that way for me.

Running the numbers, the monthly payment for options (12k miles/year w/ 20k down) at 1.4% + 1000 (GT options and X-Plan) puts total payments (621/month) + balloon (27,470) at 36 months to 49,826.

Same down payment with financing for 36 months at 1.9 has total payments of 50,544.

Oh, so it could be worse.

I think car dealers can't be doing well these days, they just don't have enough deal flow and cars coming through their lots. That being said, I shouldn't be thought of as their meal ticket so they can all go on vacation this month.

That assumes you have the cash to just pay the balloon and don’t finance it also. While I understand you can finance at the same rate you initially got the car, it’s still going to close or eliminate that gap.

Math still in favor of options, by much larger margin.

Options:
36 months payments @ 621 (1.4%) = 22,356.
24 months payments of Balloon refinanced (27,470 @ 2.9) = 1179 x 24 = 28,296.
Total: 50,652

Financed:
60 months payments @ 903 (3.9%) = 54,180.
