I thought the dynamic pony was pretty neat. But not for $375, yikes! I'll pass and wait for a sudden windfall from somewhere.
Well, you say $375, cost me over £500 to get them to UK after I broke one of the projectors and got a replacement.

Sod it! You’re a long time dead and the kids’ll only spend it all on Apple shite and Teslas but at least it’ll be over my dead body😂

I also want just the puddle lights for no other reason than they look cool. I have no need for folded mirrors. It seems like an unnecessary drain on the LVB for me. I typically drive very short distances with lots of stops so I do worry about the 12V.

But I have a question on the puddle lights. I have also noticed they only light when the mirrors are folded. However they don’t always light up when I approach the car. I use PaaK. Is there a trick to it or is it just a communication thing between my phone and car
The car also has to consider it dark enough to need.

I can only imagine how fast the mirror motors will wear out if they open and close every time I get in and out of the car.
I imagine they will wear out in only 40 years, rather than 50 years.

Electric motors can be extremely durable. I owned my last car for over 25 years, and not a single one of its electric motors failed in all that time. Including the steering wheel tilt and telescope motors and driver's seat adjustment motors -- which were employed every time I entered or exited the car.

I'm not so much worried about the motors as I am the mechanical gears and levers and cables and pulleys and whatnot that are in there.

I think that is the bigger issue. Should still be ok for decades, I would think.

I did have one gear in my steering wheel tilt mechanism lose contact due to a poorly-made spacer. I just stuck a couple of rubber washers in there and everything worked fine for 25 years.

I wish the pony puddle lights would work without the mirrors being folded. I can only imagine how fast the mirror motors will wear out if they open and close every time I get in and out of the car.
They’re built to withstand thousands and thousands of cycles. At least twice a day for 5+ years, if not more.

That's fine, but where did you get that information, and I don't consider 5 years a long time for what could be an expensive repair.

I have a 1946 Willy's Jeep, so 80 years old next year, and the mirrors still work perfectly.

Talk to me in 80 years and we'll see if the Mach-e mirrors are still working.

Power folding mirrors have been available on cars for a few decades. If the mechanisms weren’t reliable after a decade we’d have heard about it a long time ago. I do see something about if you live in a climate that sees snow in the winter you are advised to disable the folding function for the duration of winter.

You can use FORScan to change it so the mirrors only open when you turn the car on.

We got a lot of Mark's here; the car should have been called MarkE.

Where in forscan is this change, do you know?
