2021 Job 2

After nothing for almost a month got 6.4.0 and then 23-PU0722-DC-CHG3 almost back to back this week.

Me too. Does that mean the next update for us is 6.8?
No idea, is there anywhere on the forum that lists the update order? The poll ordering above seems random.

It’s rather confusing now that there are different versions for different model years.

Is 6.13.0 still the latest that EA people are on?

I have a Job 1 2021. I received in order 6.4.0, 23-PU0722-DC-CHG3, 6,6,0, 6.7.0, the unnumbered update (Voldemort's Return), and 6.8.0. It's been stated 2021 cars won't get 6.13.0. Theoretically 7.0.0 would be next, but due to whatever issues Ford found with it, I'm speculating there may be other 6.x updates before 7.0.0.

I'm not sure if the poll is organized by the date each OTA first appeared or not, but I received 6.8.0 today, weeks after I received 23-PU0630-RGT-PLO. There most certainly seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order one receives OTAs.

I got 6.6.0, 6.7.0, and 23-PU0722-DC-CHG3 in December, all in short order. The last one was on 12/19. Went out to the garage to check today, and 6.8.0 is downloading as I type this. Car is on with the auto-off timer disabled to ensure the 12V charges up for installation. Hopefully it goes smoothly.

I am fairly sure there is not a consistent order in which folks receive power-ups, but in general, most will get them in the order listed at this site: https://github.com/elmedico27/fordpowerup. Note some cars might skip some, some updates might be sent twice, etc. so this is just a rough guide.

This is the order of the OTAs I've received since I owned my car. It's a J2 2022. The first four arrived while my car was in the shop getting a new parking brake harness, rear drive motor and 12V battery.

The 6.x updates have mostly been installed in cars in numerical sequence. Note that some numbers will be skipped depending on your year and build.

PU updates do not come in order and get tossed in at various times.

Possibly stupid question, but how can you tell if your car is both connected to wifi and capable of downloading OTA's via wifi? My car has been sitting for a day and a half and my wifi network shows the car as offline. I just went to the car, got in and turned it on. Wifi network still shows car as offline. Went to connectivity screen in setting, went to Wifi section and toggle to use Wifi is on. Wifi network still shows car as offline. Opened up wifi networks section and waited while it refreshed the detected networks. It shows my home wifi network with a check next to it and only after having refreshed the networks does my home wifi show the car as connected. Note that I have changed nothing in the car, just navigated to the wifi networks screen and let it do a refresh. Shut the car off and it still shows connected to home wifi network.

I have 2 questions:
1. I have auto-updates on with a schedule of any day at 1:00 AM. Will the car wake up at that time, connect to my home wifi and check for an update?
2. Am I missing something that prompts the car to connect to my home wifi without me refreshing the wifi network list?

I've never, to the best of my knowledge, received an OTA via wifi. I live in an area of poor AT&T coverage, so I don't get the car to connect while driving unless I go down to Denver. I would have thought that the car would use my home wifi (which is strong in my garage as I have a mesh point 10 feet from the car), but it seems like I'm missing something.

1. Change your update time to some time after your morning commute or after your evening commute. That way the 12v battery has time to charge. It has been shown that some updates require a charged 12v battery in order to install correctly.
2. WIFI has not been used for any update so far. Why this is still being reinforced so heavily by Ford is unclear.

A couple of the 6.x updates most definitely downloaded over WiFi. Unfortunately, I can't remember which Right now. Right before one of them installed, my car downloaded over 1 gig over the WiFi network. The one right after it downloaded around 100-150MB.

My WiFi gateway’s app definitely shows my car having connected to the network around the time I was getting updates. I don’t know if it’s downloading the update itself, just using WiFi for the initial search for available updates but actually downloading them via cellular, or doing something else entirely. But I will say that the area where I live has below average AT&T reception (my phones never had more than 2 bars of cell signal strength around my house when I was with AT&T) but my updates seem to download very quickly. Just sayin’.

is it really too much to ask that this whole update process be more reliable and transparent?`
