Wasn’t the old update just for heating the battery not cooling????
No, It was for preconditioning in general. It was just in a cold season when it was released, so we were seeing it heat the battery.

Everyone with a job 1 car who has received the FP Frunk button already had the module updates necessary fir the Frunk remote release done by their dealer using FDRS or by themselves using FDRS. There’s not much to write home about here. Ford’s OTA plans for the Frunk haven’t changed in the slightest — unfortunately.

FRUNKITY FRUNK FRUNK!

Frunk frunk frunk, frunk frunk frunk.

Frunk?

It's rolling out.
People are starting to get their frunk buttons and people are STILL frunk-jacking threads!

I'm contemplating the creation of www.MachEFrunkum.com .
All frunk, all the time.
It would be like the Smurfs, but instead of using Smurf in place of words in sentences, it would be FRUNK!
"Did you frunk that couple? They seem so frunky."
"Have a frunky day!"
"Have you tried the Pumpkin Spice Frunké at Starfrunks?"

The ad revenue would be AMAZING!!! Companies could sell:
  • Frunk approved key fobs
  • Frunk Liners
  • Frunk Coolers
  • Special frunk cleaning products
  • Frunk only ceramic coatings
  • FPF (Frunk Protection Film)
  • Frunk T-Shirts
  • Frunk hats, with a button that raises the front bill, like opening a frunk.

THe 5.1.1 update turned on my propulsion sound, which I've never used before. I thought something was stuck under the car until I found the switch to turn it back off.

Does anyone keep their propulsion sound set to ON?
Absolutely not. I very much like the whir it has naturally. That whir sounds like the future. I feel bad for the person who wasted their time on propulsion sound. Hopefully they gave them some awesome feature to contribute to in reconciliation. That said, I’ve been the propulsion sound guy on other teams. It’s called “Intern”. :D

So can someone clarify something for me?

Are OTA updates solely multi-step upgrades meaning one upgrade after the other or is it capable of jumping from one OTA update to another without a multi-step upgrade? It seems like Power-Up updates are multi-step. I’d presume in the future that won’t be the case, but I’m just curious.

OTA’s and Powerup’s are the same. Just changed the name recently. They all come in sequence for you car.

Some are multi-step, some are not. Some are independent of others, but most have dependencies on previous updates.

You can update your car manually via FDRS, and many do. Those people are often much farther ahead with module versions, which I am sure makes the OTA releases more fun to plan. I think if an OTA arrives and the software module is already up to date, it indicates success even though nothing happened.

Now that OTAs are coming out quickly and reliably, I wonder if FDRS is even needed anymore? Is there any new feature or function you can only get via FDRS now? Before OTAs got going it made a lot of sense. Now I think I am good just to wait for the next OTA update.

It depends on the features being installed. The Priority Updates (start with a 2-digit year, then PU) generally are standalone. Each installs features that don't rely on other PowerUps being in place.

Large features, like when early Mach Es received Blue Cruise via PowerUps, require multiple sequential updates.
