I don't think you'll find existing models will be compatible with the new CarPlay.
I think there are a few posts from about two years ago where it’s implied the current gen MMEs would be compatible. With that said, that could’ve been a goal — not a guarantee or promise, implied is quite subjective by its nature, and plans change for a variety of good and not so good reasons. The human species is also well known for misremembering things and I’m hardly immune.

In addition, I’m far too unmotivated to go find those ancient threads because they’re probably in the forum equivalent of late Old English and I don’t really care tbh, it was just a bit of a joke as Apple ? is waaaay behind in that particular project. Oh and I will be disabling updates after 6.7 installs anyway.

I lost connected services during update 6.2.1 on a Job 1 car today. hoping its just in the middle of a update and that why amd it will come back.
Use remote start on FordPass at least once. Connected services should come back on.

Is this a USB or CAN bus install? If CAN bus how long did it take?

The last few modules that will need to be updated are not modules I have updated before using FDRS/

I wonder if this will make it so the speedometer can't be centered anymore like it is in the 2023.5 cars. If so, people are not going to be happy.
I was actually hoping this went the other way and fixed the 2023.5 cars to re-center it! I absolutely hate looking at a top view of a car at all times!

Yes, that's what we're saying.
That's how it is on my 23.5, complete waste of that screen. The speed and animations on my 21 and 22 were awesome and now, just a white egg right in the center that does absolutely nothing. I don't use lane centering and highway/bluecruis is maybe 1-5% of my driving, so I get to look at the lifeless and useless white egg all day. Looks like everyone else will be joining me here soon! @Ford Motor Company if this is the case, you're going the wrong way!

I'd love to get rid of the GOM and replace it with something like Battery Temp or some other useful diagnostic

This is a prime example of how you can't please everyone.
Sort of, though the way is was previously, those using automated features got the car icon and those not using them got the speed and cool animations with acceleration. I'd think that's about as close to pleasing everyone as you could ask for. Now those not using lane keep or blue cruise see a lifeless and purposeless icon. Just seems weird to do that.

What might be nice is a setting where you can change what you see on the IPC. Allow you to cycle through a few different things to display, similar to what we can do in our 2020 Raptor.

I definitely think you’re more right than wrong considering the Mach-E was the first to get Apple’s EV routing. It might even be the reason it’s December already and we still haven’t heard anything. For all we know the Mach-E (I think alongside the nautilus, it just makes sense) might be the first to get next-gen CarPlay too. Now I’m just speculating, but you never know. I’m definitely keeping my hopes up for it. People can speculate we don’t have the hardware for it, but nobody even knows what hardware will be required. For all we know, Apple is building the next-gen CarPlay to be compatible with the hardware we have and not the other way around.

It’s both. First part is a USB install for the main 200MB file and then it does a flash of the updated strategy file via CAN. Took around 3 minutes for me so very short, don’t need a battery maintainer if you’ve got a high enough SOC.

All in all it was done in about 20 minutes. Longest wait was for the reboot when doing the USB install.

Although I’m hearing reports that the IPC update is no longer available in FDRS. Is it still showing for you?

Maybe they will use car icon to show brake light application! Another cool one would be to see lane lines and vehicles in other lanes.

"How far can we go before we need to charge?"
"Hell if I know, but my battery is at 62.6 degrees!"
