What prevents you from disabling OTA right now?

I did it more than two years ago, and have never regretted it.

I'm rolling the dice on getting the 12 V lockout recall (which I thought this thread was about) resolved without needing to go to the dealer, but without it causing any issues.

I’m guessing it’s half the update. In the original recall, it specified that a couple different components had to updated, and this was one of them.

Your call. I will be rolling the dice by never bothering with that recall. I never have a baby in the car, and can break a window if I ever need to.

I’m not a FOMO guy, but there is a secondary benefit to this which could maintain the 12-v better and perhaps prevent a premature failure ??‍

Got the same update in Canada. I started the update, locked the door and went on with my life. Check the app an hour after and it said it failed....

For sure - also means anything done right after the car is shut off is no longer using the 12V so it should also help maintain the 12V lifespan (i.e cycling Power Liftgate, opening/closing doors which wake up the SYNC again, etc...)

Good, I was hoping to get this ASAP so I can disable OTAs before my warranty expires on July 6th.

Edit: Never mind, not the recall fix.

Ford won't cover any issues caused by OTAs outside of the 3/36 warranty

Got this update today. 2nd in 2 days. Got the latest Sync version yesterday.

How do I know if this update installed successfully? I was informed it was available and then it failed after attempting to install at the prescribed time.

I then slow charged it overnight and the next morning all notifications disappeared...nothing about it failing but nothing about it installing either. Everywhere I look it acts like an update back in May was my last successful update.

Color me confused...

Failed also. Didn't look at it today if it still appeared on the car from yesterday.
