Yeah, I've been trying to research diminished value and I get the same thing. And the car is so new, it is hard to even get trade in values. I also believe the fact that it is a more rare Grabber Blue First Edition should count for something.
I was in an accident and had to sue for DV in small claims court. It was a hassle but well worth it.

You shouldn't have to sue for diminished value. Just ensure your state is one that allows recovery of it. There's a form/method 17c here in Florida we used for our 18 F150 Platinum. It was basically, Miles on the vehicle, Value at the time, and extent of damage multiplier. For a $10,800 in damage to our 17,000 mile F150 came out to $1,600. The party at faults Insurance took care of it without issue. BTW, this is what over $10k looks like on an F150. Platinum Grill, $996, left Headlight, $1,300. Absolutely crazy. The SantaFe was a total loss so I guess the truck held up pretty well.

We just dropped Blucifer off. Our estimate is $5500. I guess the rear bumper and taillights are cheaper than the front.

Now the race is on. Will I get it back in time for our "Wedding Anniversary Trip" at the beginning of May???
I sure hope so. I want Marlin back for a National Mustang Day cruise on the 17th!

I'm sure the cost to replace / recalibrate all of the sensors in the front end plays into this. Replacing sheet metal is cheap because it's fast.

Wait, does he have a Grabber Blue radar sensor for a left eye?

Some insurance companies don't want to pay DV, that's why you have to sue. I made a claim to the defendants insurance and they refused. I then went to a DV appraiser and had an appraisal. I went to court and proved my case. The judge said I'm a rare individual that would go through that much trouble! California just has legal precedent for DV. There are no laws saying it has to be paid.

Good for you! Most people have never heard of Diminished Value claim. Granted, if your vehicle isn't newer, than it wouldn't apply. Amazing the insurance companies have lawyers they are paying salaries to and they'd rather them in court refuting these claims. It's not easy so most consumers don't even bother.

Today, I'm trying to figure out where to get it repaired.

My dealer doesn't do collision work (and most dealers around Denver don't). The place they recommended is sorta far away and they aren't part of the Ford Certified Collision Network.

Yes, Ford has a list of certified repair centers. But when I look at the list, there is no way to tell if they have experience with EVs or if they have a good paint shop, etc. And a lot of their listings are actually different locations for Caliber Collision (huge repair company). I've had good luck with them before, but they definitely operate on repairing lots and lots of cars.

My insurance also has a list of certified repair centers, but they also mostly list Caliber and similar chains.

Any advice? I'm worried about timeliness, quality of repairs, and quality of paint.
Who is your insurance company? It sounds like they take pretty good care of you.

It's USAA. They have always been pretty helpful over the years.

Thanks. Yes, that's the only insurance company I've ever had, and they've always done well on auto claims. I think I've had only three auto claims in nearly 40 years. But I'm considering shopping for a lower rate after I get the Mach E, because they quoted me such a higher rate than for my other cars. I need to remember to factor in the annual refund though.

I can't remember, but it was either Carmax or Carvana that did an estimate on my trade that had an accident, it actually listed what they would have offered if it didn't have the accident. That would make my DV claim much easier! I didn't have that for when someone hit my Edge. I finally got the insurance company up to $1k Diminished value up from the $500 they offered. That offer I got on my car a few months ago took $3k off the price for the accident. And I think if I had that, it would have been actual real world numbers they could have used to justify the claim.

When I tried to find more ways to get a value, all the websites seem to be lawyers wanting to represent you to get more money, and of course take a cut.
I am sure they were using the accident damage as an excuse to lower the trade in value as much as they could get away with. This is why you should always have a sore neck and back after an accident. Go to a series of chiropractor and massage therapy appointments to get some pain and suffering money to help defray some additional diminished value and inconvenience. Just be sure the attorney doesn't pull a fast one and grab 33 percent of the medical bills. They should only get 33 percent of the pain and suffering money, not the medical bills.

Its the at fault Insurance company that has to pay. We have USAA, but the at fault party had a company called 'Gainsco'(sp).
