A friend who also owns a Mach E (but isn't the type to be online on forums like me) was just rear-ended at a red light. Damage photos attached.

I know there are stories about these sorts of things being astronomically expensive (especially if there's battery damage). Thought I'd ask the forum. Also, what are the next steps - is there more than just getting it to a body shop? Does it need to be checked by an EV person at a Ford dealer?

bummer always hate to see one of these cars get hit hard to get parts for just keep in mind insurance companies 10 to one to use refurbished parts but that could affect your Ford warranty. The Ford dealer may tell you that if you use refurbished parts it may affect your Ford dealer warranty.

Body shops for estimates. Have your friend also file a Diminished Value claim with the other party’s insurance company. Bummer he got hit. ??

Thanks everyone - as long as the battery isn't damaged this falls into the "annoying" category and not the "extremely annoying" category!

I had a door ding repaired on ours. The biggest problem we ran into was finding a shop that would work on it because the shops wasn’t EV certified so they wouldn’t work on it. No parts needed replaced but it still took 10 days for the repair and it was expensive I was glad I was standing there when it happened so I didn’t have to flip the bill

Well my car is finally finished--just today (wrapping up paperwork).

Back in mid-May an Explorer tagged my passenger side rear:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Rear ended - next steps? 1718384440745-yq

Its taken a month to get it fixed (not my fault so no deductible) at a cost to the insurance company nearing $11k. (If you look near the top of the wheel you can see that the Explorer was red in color.)

My insurance company wanted me to take it to one of their "approved" body shops. I brought it there and the shop wouldn't even look at it: "Nope its an EV". I drove over to my dealer's body shop immediately after that and had them estimate it (the insurance co said it may cost more but so far it hasn't).

Strangely enough, on my way to the dealer to drop it off to get fixed insurance called "hey we found a shop to work on it" "Yup so did I, where I'm taking it to now".

I got to take a peek at it when they sent the wheel out for repairs and snapped a pic:

Waiting on a call now to go fetch it.

Edit: I see the comment above on refurbished parts. Yup the insurance company wanted them to use a refurbished fender. The dealer's body shop refused.

Thank you everyone for your help - outcome looks good:
-Everything paid for (as expected) from other person's insurance, including a new wrap (I'm telling her to go with something crazy instead of this boring matte black!)
-All new parts (first shop wanted to use refurbished parts but this forum's advice prepared her for that...)
-EV rental
-She is filing a devaluation claim

End result couldn't be better - thank you everyone for your advice, I really appreciate it!
