I have a 2023 MME Premium AWD ER that I purchased in January this year.

for the life of me I can not figure out how to fix the issue I am having with the rear hatch.

when pushing the button on the key fob or the exterior soft touch button the hatch will only open a very small amount.
I have to hit the button a second time to get the hatch to open all the way to the top.

I have done the height recalibration multiple times, I have tried putting it in manual mode, opening, closing, then putting it back to auto.

About 10% of the time it will open all the way to the top as it should, 90% of the time it only opens that 2-3”.

The 2023’s didn’t come with the foot sensor so there is no option of messing with those settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Good afternoon. Would you send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this hatch concern on my end? Thanks!

I have this issue, as well. I think I *might* be cupping my hand around the tailgate when I push the release, which *might* make the hatch think something is in the way, so it doesn't fly open. I have never tried to push the button again to see if it will open - I just manually push it the rest of the way.

That's very unscientific though - I usually forget all about it until the next time it happens, and then think "was my hand in the way again?"

I thought the same thing so I tried pushing just the button and it made no difference.

I noticed with my 2023 premium, if it is locked and I try to open it with this button on the hatch, it will only open a few inches as you describe. However if you unlock first it will open fully.

Mine does it regardless if it is locked or unlocked, it also varies how much it opens, sometimes it is just enough to pop the latch, other times it is like 3-4”, and others it is like a foot.

never enough to get anything in the back and enough to make me irritate.

I also have this problem. But it's erratic ... doesn't always do it, but it's worse using the button at the bottom of the hatchback. The key fob works more consistently. My dealer took a look at, did something that they thought fixed it, but it still is a problem. I think they were testing with the key fob rather than it & the button on the bottom of the hatch. I prefer using the hatch button rather than the fob - when I need to open the hatch, my hands are often full and don't want to try to dig into my pocket to get the fob.

23 Premium from Jan as well. My does this too, if I pressss the button on the trunk it opens a couple inches, if I stab at it really quickly it opens all the way. Either way annoying.

I'm having the same issue too. Can I send you my VIN as well?

Leased a 2023 Premium RWD (first EV) last week, and experienced this issue (or a quirk) as well. The hatch opens all the way up if I use the fob button, but not when opening with the button at the bottom of the hatch.

But then I noticed that it opens fine if I press the hatch button and move away quickly, or if I stand a few extra inches away from the rear of the car and press as well. This is when the fob is still in my pocket and I haven't unlocked the car first.

If I unlock the car first and then press the button on the hatch, it opens up just fine even if I am not standing those extra inches away from the rear of the car ?‍♂
Now that I know how it behaves, not much of an annoyance anymore ?
