Twice now, my ‘21 MME premium opened its trunk on its own, no buttons pressed. Both times happened when it was parked in my garage and I walked into the garage. I do have PAAK enabled. Both times it hit the closed garage door (minor scratches). Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, twice in my '21 Premium Extended Range AWD. I don't have PAAK enabled.

For me, the trunk and frunk opened simultaneously and immediately upon turning off the car and exiting the vehicle. I didn't press any buttons (aside from the power switch), touch the screen, or even have my feet on the pedals at that point. Just turned off the car and lifted the interior driver door handle.

There are multiple accounts of this sort of thing across various threads. The issue seems to be so occasional that it doesn't get much attention. My rudimentary hypothesis is some sort of electrical blip upon vehicle shutdown that temporarily shorts the lead to the frunk and trunk simultaneously, triggering their opening. But I don't know how much sense that makes vs. other potential explanations.

Yes, at least once in a parking lot as I was approaching the vehicle. Haven’t seen that in a while though ‘21 AWD MME Premium.

yes - rarely (every few months). It seems to only happen in my garage and since it doesn't hit anything I have not been concerned.

When you walked into the garage and the door opened, did you have the key fob in your pocket? I have found with our Subaru if I have the key fob in my pocket and am working in the garage the buttons on the key fob will get pressed in my pocket as i am moving around and the car will chirp/lock/unlock as I move. As soon as I remove the key from my pocket the problem stops.

If you do not use the buttons on the fob that much, you might try a hard fob case that would help prevent accidental button pressing when in a pocket/purse.

If you have the kick-to-open feature, it might be something related to that. I have read a few posts over the years about people suspecting that a cat or some other critter had triggered the kick to open when the fob was in range.

I don’t carry the fob with me

I had it happen once on my 23 a few months into ownership. Pulled into work parking spot, put in park and turned off the car. Both car and frunk popped open.

I turned on the kick-to-open feature in FORScan. I noticed that when it is hot out (80+ degrees) and the sun is on the rear end, it will occasionally open when I walk up towards the back (up to 30 feet away). I don't carry the fob so it has to be activated during my iPhone bluetooth connection. It hasn't been a problem for me.

Yes and mine caused major damage when it opened when it hit my garage door.

So enough of us has had this issue. Has Ford ever addressed it in a TSB?

I don't think there is any particular fix for it other than turning off the feature which I don't want to do.
It also happens to cars without kick to open (like my 2023).

Happened once on my ‘24 with the rear hatch at the BucEs near Loveland, CO while charging at a Supercharger. I use PAAK and walk-away auto locking, but always visually check. Came back to the car (in a pouring rain) and the hatch was open.
