So this is a new one on me, and I haven’t read anything like this on the forums. I just (finally) tried to schedule the safety recall work at a dealer the Portland, OR area, but not the one I bought it from. The service guys just called me back and said they can’t do it, because the word from Ford Corporate is that the work had to be done by the dealer that sold the car to me.
The reason he gave is this is the “solution” for too many dealers refusing to do the recall work. Anyone else hear of this?
This doesn’t make a lot of sense to me for a few reasons (e.g. what if someone moves after buying the car and the selling dealer is further away?). I went to this dealer because I saw someone post they had a good experience with them on their recall. I actually don’t have any reason to think the dealer that sold me the car would do a bad job or might otherwise be inept, but they are just a little further away from me after my move (maybe 5 miles further in distance, but like 20 more minutes in terms of time with the roadwork going on).
