The retrofit kit would be awesome. But I also suspect you’re right that ultimately getting a new one would make more economic sense, even if a crate motor kit with actual motors plus whatever else was required was a available. I have to say I do like the moon roof, even if it doesn’t open, but I do get your point about a GT having a lighter metal roof. I guess my car is more ā€˜Touring’ than ā€˜Grand Touring’.? But I think Pebbles the ? likes the moon roof!

When you consider that hospitals sometimes remove the wrong foot/leg/organ/whatever, a service tech putting in the wrong motor isn't that much of a shock.
I had a total knee replacement on my left knee almost 3 years ago. When I went into preop, they pulled the gown back to the knees and started laughing … I had written ā€œwrong kneeā€ on the right knee.

Maybe we need to write ā€œNot this motorā€ on our mach -e’s. ;)

Regarding the OG's question regarding cancer about the tech taking apart both the front and rear ends, I don't know that I'd be especially worried. You'll have two new motors and obviously if anything goes wrong the dealership will be on the hook to fix it. I do think however that you should push them hard to have your car serviced right away once the parts arrive. There's no reason you should have to go back into the queue. I also think you need to push Ford for car payments and gas money. Call the 800 customer service number and ask specifically to speak to the BEV team. They can help you get things resolved more quickly. Good luck!

It was rather amusing to witness the check, double check, and triple check that was done to ensure that the broken femur in my body was the left one, before they put me under.

It wouldn't have been hilarious if they cut into the wrong hip and couldn't find a broken femur. But I wouldn't have known until much later?

Sorry, but I'm sceptical that Ford, the manufacturer, is at fault here. I mean they COULD have been mistaken at some point, but the technician is the eye witness to the customers provided information, as well as the codes present on the vehicle. It was his responsibility not to cut into the wrong leg.

You can contact the BEV team by calling the number in the account settings in Fordpass listed in HELP. I recevied $300 in Reward points when the car was in service for two weeks.

Pretty crazy when I have more accurate info than the tech.
Not really all that crazy at all. Those of us that have been here for a few years used to have to print the TSBs and the step-by-step directions and leave them on the front seat. Sometimes with plain language explanations.

Wow, that was quite a reach!!! There are many proecesses in place "these days" that prevent this from happening.......In the "Good Ole Days" you didn't even have to see the patient before they were asleep in the OR.

Now, you have to see the patient before they have any medication in the Pre-op area, speak to them and mark the site for surgery with a marker. THEN, in the OR you have to have a "Time Out" where everyperon (Circulator Nurse, Scrub tech, Anesthesia and the Surgeon) all have to agree with who the pt is and the proceedure AND the specific site of surgery.

When they 1st implemented these changes of course it was annoying and the "few bad apples ruins it for the rest of us" runs through your head. But now that it has been around a decade it's just routine and the young Docs don't know it any different.

Just an FYI, public safety announcement incase SuperDave80 scared anyone with his post.

Ah, the good old days, right? Yeah.. don't miss those but sometimes wonder if we still should do this for some dealerships' techs. :)

I had a TSB service. The very first instruction was to put the 12volt on a battery tender. When I got the car back I had a low battery alert....??ā€ā™‚

Understand your "frustration?"; that being said the way you phrased it "sometimes" makes it sound like a routine occurence and not really a joke. IMO.....

Of course I realize some of us may be more sensetive than others in certain circumstances. Just thought it might be a nice thing to let John Q Public understand how that system works. Sorry if you felt I squashed your joke!!

Cool. Now we know front and rear motors are interchangeable. Wonder if any drivetrain segments were negatively impacted.
The front and rear motors are not interchangeable. They are different units.
