If you just need to remove external fog, sure a quick boost will probably be more efficient.Really? I would think that the heating elements in the windshield would run at 12V and use far less total energy than the HVAC system. But I've admittedly never owned a car with one.
Internal fog is much more effective with HVAC.
The heated windshield has killed plenty of 12v batteries back when Ford enabled it by default when preheating (diesel heaters) and had to stop doing it. It's an absolute hog.
