Have you ever walked up to your Mach-E, with your Key FOB in hand, and thought, it would be great to open that driver door and take it for a spin? I mean, you own it, and it would be just super to get that driver door open and drive. But you walk up to the door, with your key FOB in hand, press that button on the driver's door, and you watch your car light up, side view mirrors extend, but the door doesn't open. You push that button again, and nothing.

As a bonus, perhaps, you even thought at one time it would be great to open multiple doors at once with a press of a single button.

Fear not, I am about to reveal the secret manual to open your driver's door, and multiple doors at one time.

1) Forget about PAAK, walk up to your door with your Key FOB
2) Press the driver door button. Watch the side view mirrors extend and various extraneous lights light up.
3) Press the driver door button again, and watch nothing happen.
4) Press the passenger door button on the driver's side, and watch both the passenger driver's side door open and the driver door open at the same time.
5) Close passenger driver's side door, get into Mach-E through the driver door, and drive!

There you go, the secret manual on how to open the driver door on your Mach-E

So this is all tongue-in-cheek, but my driver door no longer opens even with the Key FOB in hand since 3 days ago. I've seen some others post in threads unrelated about this same problem, and thought this was worthy of its own thread. Anyone know the fix to this?

In case you are wondering, yes, this actually works. You can open 2 doors with one button push, lol.

There’s a new software fix available at dealerships for this issue. Annoying that it can’t be pushed OTA. Or you can “reset” the car by disconnecting your 12v battery for a while. Also annoying.

I’ve been living with this latest iteration of the unlock bug for over a month. It has bitten MANY owners. I’m scheduled to get the software update next Tuesday.

Has anyone confirmed disconnecting the battery works?

I actually got the no key detected message WITH THE ACTUAL FOB in my hand once. It's only happened once and it got me laughing from how bad the key system is.

Sounds like the driver's door module needs to be reprogrammed.

Disconnecting the 12 volt battery worked for me. I disconnectEd the positive because it is the easiest to reach. 10 mm wrench.

I would be leery about disconnecting the battery, especially since the manual says to see an authorized dealer if the battery needs to be changed and in light of certain issues that could (or could not)--https://www.aa1car.com/library/battery_disconnect_problems.htm.

Most manuals simply tell you which battery type and the proper way to disconnect/reconnect, but not in this instance.

Ford should have 'borrowed' the key fob/door lock system from Mazda.

5 years, never fails.

i had the same problem until i did the battery disconnect. Its been 'mostly' fine. Sometimes it takes it a few seconds before it unlocks but i can hear the door trying to open immediately, and i no longer need to hit other door buttons

For me it worked.
I know I am jinxing myself, but so far, I have not had this issue, yet.

If and when I do, since I will have to do the frunk covers disassembly anyway, I will install a battery disconnect switch while I have it all apart. I will also either cut the holes above the battery connection points and/or install a high amp connector to allow jump starting, either to or from the MME.
