Planning a trip to Santa Fe NM from the Phoenix area using the Ford Pass Trip Planner. Surprised that the first charging stop the app listed was a Rivian Adventure Network charging station. Ok, but I've searched this Forum and elsewhere and have seen nothing that indicates that Rivian has opened their fast charging network to non-Rivian owners. Ironically, the Rivian owned ABRP doesn't include this charger for the route.. Plug Share has this one listed as Rivian drivers only. So, is the Rivian network now open to all? Has anyone successfully used the Rivian Network to DCFC charge their Mach-E?

The charger in question is in the middle of nowhere, Holbrook Arizona, and the risk of being stranded there in this hellish heat due to an error in Ford's navigation system is not something I want to experience.

I looked it up in my FordPass map app and it's not offering that as an option, I see a few EA in that area though, just use that, you can tell it to use a different charger at that stop

RAN is not open to non-Rivians, at least not yet. Winslow EA is not far from Holbrook. I also did do a trip plan in Ford Pass that gave me a RAN stop, not sure why.

I did use the RAN in Quartzsite, twice this weekend, but in my R1T of course.

Thanks @AZBill. Winslow is about 30 miles from Holbrook, and not part of either the FP or ABRP routing, so that would be at least 60 miles out of our way and another hours worth of driving time if chargers not available in Holbrook. Changing the route to go through Winslow would add even more distance and time to the trip.

Both FP and ABRP route us through Show Low where there are APS EA chargers, but FP skips those in favor the Holbrook Rivian Network. The big issue here is that Ford is including these unavailable charging stations in the trip planner. Moral of the story, is never to rely on one app for EV trip planning.

Edit: Problem has been fixed.

@Ford Motor Company please remove the Rivian chargers from the Blue Oval charger network since they are not available to us. They are Rivian use only. It’s very bad to route Ford customers to a charger they can’t use.

I just messaged a contact at Ford and they said they would correct it. Thanks for reporting this!

At least the Ford trip planner is better than the Rivian one, it is useless. I set up a trip to CA, and sent it to the truck. Then when I told it to start, it completely changed the trip. Even the basic nav in the Rivian is pretty poor, and they do not support AA or CP, in order to use other apps. The Rivian nav also does not allow inserting stops, and Ford does allow that.

As stated in the thread the RAN (Rivian Adventure Network) has not been opened up to other EV's. While charging at a RAN charger (in my R1T) an MME pulled up and tried to charge. It did not work. They told me the MME nav routed them to this location. Seems like a common occurrence. Hope Ford removes it until its opened up. Being a Rivian owner too, I am aware of this issue but it must be frustrating for other MME owners when it happens. Also agree on trip planner assessment, Rivian vs Ford. ABRP is now owned by Rivian so that should change.

I thought Rivian Level 2 chargers were open to the public. At least they were about six months ago when I visited one at the Sacramento REI

According to the Rivian website:
The Rivian Adventure Network is a comprehensive network of fast-charging sites — initially capable of adding up to 140 miles of range in 20 minutes to the R1T and R1S....

Open to Rivian owners, these locations will allow you to travel along popular routes and out into the wilderness.
So, the RAN is a network of L3 chargers open only to Rivian owners. As can be seen in the FP screenshot I was directed to the RAN.

Just checked the FP route again, and it is no longer directing me to the RAN. Great that they corrected that so quickly and hope that all RAN chargers were removed and not just the location I mentioned.

Yes RAN is L3, not L2 and is available only to Rivian owners as of right now. It's also free electrons for us!

Ford Route Planner has me routed to Rivian Adventure Network charger in Bay City MI. User on Plug Share says it is closed to non Rivian vehicles since July 15. Hello @Ford Motor Company.
