Seat Material Cracking

Job 2 2021, 44k, noticed driver's side cracking today. I'm in my 40's and this is the first seat I've ever had an issue with. Last car has 199,000 miles on it and the cloth looked new.

I park in a garage at work (not on the top floor) and in my own garage at home. Seats have seen no sun at all.

I've always had good luck with real leather using Leather Honey. I'll have to look into fake leather conditioner. Thanks for that suggestion.

And yes, I was also burned by Ashley and their fake leather crap. They adhere a leather surface to vinyl and it all just flakes off. Glad to have gotten rid of that garbage a few years ago.

I noticed the same tearing on the left side of the driver seat this morning. Very disappointed to see the deterioration as quickly as this. Car has 58,000KM on it, 2.5 years of ownership. I'm not overweight and have never sat in the seat with something in my back pockets.

I'm booked to take it into the dealership I bought it from. If the fix is not covered by warranty this may be my last Ford too. There have just been too many issues with the car to convince me to go with Ford again for my next vehicle. The seats holding up for at least 5 years should be table stakes for all major automotive manufacturers. This is clearly a defective material.

Mine have gotten really bad now (on my replacement driver seat). I think it's about time to give in and buy seat covers.

My seat covers have been replaced twice now. The quality is terrible.

My driver seat started cracking under 20,000 miles. Forgot to take it in under warranty. Took it in 21 days after the warranty expired and 30,000 miles. Ford refuses to cover it.

I have pictures of the cracks from when I still had 14 months left on the warranty (and around 18,000 miles) and it doesn't matter to them. I also have Ford ESP and that doesn't matter, either.

It looks so junky. Very disappointed in the lack of quality and Ford's poor response. Seems like this should be under a class action lawsuit or recall.

April 2024 (Still under warranty, roughly 19,000-20,000 miles):

June 2025 (21 days out of warranty, 30,000 miles):

Look how much worse it got over the course of a year. I dread to see what it looks like in another year.

My driver's seat has starting cracking on my 2022. Only 20k miles. My factory warranty runs out on November 22. I'll make a claim this week.
