If CE1 is a success, it will be because they are able to produce and, more importantly, SELL EVs at a scale Ford hasn't come close to yet. That means they are able to make them financially viable at that $30K price point. I'm 100% wait and see on this - I'm rooting for Ford's success. CE1 will be Farley's legacy - if it fails, he's toast.

It depends on the performance ceiling of CE1 and how flexible it is. If it's designed for entry level small cars, my guess is it's gonna have around 180-250 hp, not bad at all, especially with instant torque. But it's a far cry from the GT with its 700 lb ft of torque.

If Ford is all about having to streamline their manufacturing process, developing a platform that doesn't require a ton of changes between vehicles, swapping in high performance motors and other components just for a few specific models would go against that idea. A slightly smaller mach-e with maybe 300 hp, and a 30k starting price would be pretty cool.
The current platform’s electronics were really not designed for GT power levels. It was originally the 250-300 hp replacement for the Fusion, which morphed into the MME. Nothing new with regard to the platform not supporting the MME GT at the outset. We are still blowing up HVBJBs and having other problems on extended battery cars and AWD cars. Oh, and we have the ugly bandage known as Unbridled Extend. ?‍♂?

If Ford places the next generation MME on the new platform, I hope that they do their homework better on that car than they did on the current generation. ??

BORG claims the mach-e will live on for about 4 more years. This could explain why Ford is doing a gas powered mustang sedan in the near future. Not only is a V8 powered sedan badass, and something most of us mustang enthusiasts can get behind, it retains some of the buyers who want a 4 door more practical mustang.
Ughhh, V8 Mustang sedan.

How about an electric Mustang Convertible on this new platform? PLEASE, Ford?

I have never bought into car hype, been a “reservation holder” or “ordered” a car. I will do it for an electric convertible muscle car.

In the words of Ford's CEO, an all electric mustang is never gonna happen. I assume he means an electric full-sized coupe because, ya know, mach-e and such. Perhaps that means the full sized mustang coupe leans into the 60s fastback design even more, and doubles down on things like V8s. But that could also mean that Ford could still make mustang EVs that aren't the traditional coupe, who knows, Farley saying that was a bunch of world salad and corporate speak.

Me personally, I think taking CE1, and making a smaller EV mustang coupe at a lower price point is a really cool idea. Getting back to the days when anyone who wanted a mustang could afford one. In terms of design, imagine a coupe where the metal along the side of the car follows the shape of the 1965 mustang notchback, but the shape of the glass is more of a fastback shape. If what I'm describing is hard to imagine, just look at a c6 Corvette from the side. The metal c-pillar is more upright, but the rear glass itself is sleeker, and wraps around. It almost gives the illusion of having two different rooflines.

If Ford comes out with a decent platform, I do not see anything preventing them from making the 2nd generation MMEs on it, as the sporty and near luxury version.

While GE2 as a platform may be dead there’s nothing stopping Ford from slapping the MME badge on a CE1. They did it for the current compliance EV platform. There is goodwill in the name, after all. ?‍♂?
Given the number of "platforms" the Mustang name has graced, I'd almost hazard the opinion that slapping a MachE name on some cost reduced version is the true heritage.

I applaud this roadmap if it is come to fruition. Ford dealerships are the ones that will determine it will be successful or not. For that based on past experiences at these Ford dealerships, I am pessimistic.

Ford needs to up its game on vertical integration if it wants to achieve profitability. This is key to Tesla's and many Chinese EV brands success so far.

I've mentioned that the Shelby Mach-E should have been V8 powered (Mach-8?) on another forum, I think that would have been awesome to see. I got a bunch of hate for saying that, honestly I don't know why.

So take this with a massive grain of salt, but BORG over on general motor insider forums leaked this info. For those who don't know, he's a credible ford insider who leaked things like product delays, styling descriptions, and so on before it was common knowledge. He's claiming the Ford three row EV crossover, which has been delayed multiple times, is now dead, and the GE2 Ford EV platform along with it.

For those who don't know, GE2 was gonna be the basis for a next gen mach-e. Now Ford is going full steam ahead on CE1, which is gonna be the small platform for their 25k EVs. Developed by the head engineer of the model y, it's apparently the most cost efficient EV platform ever designed, that's the goal at least. Dealers a few days ago were shown sketches of EV sedans, trucks, and utilities which could be based on this platform, it's apparently very flexible.

So some bitter sweet news, Ford's investing in EVs that will actually use a profitable platform, and make EVs sustainable long term as a business model. But it's coming at the expense of the mach-e unless they can use the mach-e platform for CE1 or something.
There’s a wishlist of improvements we all have for the next gen MME. If that can be achieved with the budget platform, great. Otherwise it’d be a shame if Ford killed the Mustang Mach-E after investing so much into its name & branding.
