The problem with pointing at Tesla as an example of profitability is that their path to profitability is NOT repeatable by other brands.Everyone is losing billions on EVs right now except for Tesla basically. So pulling in some of Tesla's most successful people was a genius move imo. All the knowledge, with none of Elon's BS.
Tesla was first to mass market, made most of their early profits on carbon credits and government money, and now have a 50% market share.
There is only room for 1 company to do that and that doesn’t bode well for the dozens of companies competing with Tesla.
This move by Ford (if real, plans change all the time in a 4 year time period) won’t surprise me though.
Car companies are in the business of making profits. If a car doesn’t make money, it gets killed off. Even if it is profitable, it gets killed off when sales are sliding (their entire car/sedan lineup).
