I've literally only ever driven one kind of car with an HUD that I can remember, and that was a Pontiac Grand Prix that my gf leased in the late 1990s/early 2000s (forget the exact model year.) It was a very basic HUD but basic > none. (That Grand Prix also was faster off the line than my 1995 Mustang GT was. ?)

picture randomly found on the web that matches my memory:

For me - and this is yet another case of a personal preference - I have lived without one for a very long time, but I suspect I would love having one day to day. Any excuse to not look away from the road is a good one.
Loved my 98 Grand Prix! The HUD was awesome and I really miss it. It is one big reason I am considering the Nissan Ariya EV now.

While I agree most of the what ends up on the HUD can easily be replicated on the screen, however I really like the augmented reality sat nav projections that use the HUD as used by a few manufactures, seeing as the VW have it on the id3, I imagine the id.4 will get similar

To late to add the hardware for a HUD to the mach-e, but if ford add an option for the front camera view to appear on the 15.5" screen while not exactly the same a similar feature should be possible.
I agree. Jaguar’s HUD doesn’t do this, but it does show you which lane to be in if you have navigation on which is useful if you are approaching an unfamiliar freeway interchange and don’t know which lane to be in.

But other than that, I don’t necessarily want it right smack in front of me just how fast I’m going. Ignorance is bliss ?

OK, now VW is making me rethink my comments about HUD.

You might as well said “make the car a Tesla”. I probably would have deleted your message. He’s a better man than me I guess.
Why would he ignore competitive benchmarking?

Why is "Tesla has x therefore x is bad" a valid business strategy?
