I’d go with catastrophic damage on the way to KC, or while in KC.
Of course that’s just conjecture.
The good news is 6 weeks doesn’t sound like a repair timeline. Sounds like a new build timeline.
Ford can just add your order to the schedule and build a fresh pony.

This sounds crazy I get more information before I accept that vehicle if they ever produce one

you have to find out what happened to the vehicle I think back to a phrase I heard in college about a girl that hung out with the football team and you don’t want a car like that

Jes sayin. The phrase was “ ridden hard and put away wet.” it also applies to horses and electric ponies.

It's weird. There's a local Ford dealership in the KC area with a contract to fix any vehicles with body damage between the plant and the KC area. If the damage happens after that (or isn't noticed until then) it will be repaired at the dealership with the contract in your area (usually by state).

Interesting that your dealer actually placed a new order for you. Mine basically refused.
That's likely what happened then. My guess is the damage happened during the handoff to CP Rail for a Canadian delivery.

In my case the option to have the bodyshop fix it was not acceptable. Had there been an option to have it fixed at the factory I would have been happy with that. So I refused delivery, and in fact the dealer advised me not to take the car.

I'll try to find out what happened to it as the dealer was going to try and buy it from Ford, fix it, and use it as their demo car - they are one of the few dealers around with a Mach-E tester.

Yikes!
Mines just a punched in rear quarter panel. The damage is still $4k but much less significant than yours.
Glad they got a new order in for you asap.

Difficult.. YES impossible NO ..

My dealership apparently has still not transferred ownership of my vehicle although loan funded etc ..

Add to that nonsense today I got TWO new loan packages from Fifth Third Bank for loans I didn’t authorize..

I love ford BUT the lengths some dealerships go to for fraud is shocking

i suggest a credit freeZe for anyone who has worked with AutoNation
Bit of a different situation. I've had a very bad experience with AutoNation Ford Frisco so I'll never do business with Autonation.

Ford has made it pretty much impossible for a dealer to take a car you ordered and sell it to another party. Of course they could do that but they couldn't hide it and they would face severe penalties from Ford. Ford directly informs the buyer of the car the status, right down to vin numbers and Window stickers. The risk to the dealer is steep, they would loose their lot allotment from Ford if caught the first time, do it again they could loose their dealership. This is an area Ford has been very publicly cracking down on.

Why is AutoNation refusing to give you your car if the loan is funded, there is part of the story missing here?

Interesting to hear about cases where excessive damage triggered a trip back to the factory. I wonder why that was not an option with my 1st order (arrived w/ $20k in damage) - I would have rather waited for a factory-fresh fix rather than place a new order like I did. Although she will arrive with the "fixed" HVBJB.

Still waiting for the replacement ordered 1 June, supposed to be built w/o Oct. 6th.
Laws could be different in Canada. Greatly over simplifying it but for the most part in the US Ford is the manufacture of the car, Ford can't sell a car direct to the consumer, a dealer must. A car could fall into an industrial wood chipper, and as long as Ford, or it's authorized factory representative, rebuilds the car to factory specification before transferring to a dealer for sale, that car is considered new and there is no damage to disclose.

I did see a picture that showed on a more recently train there was at least one rail car that was open with an F150 and an MME with busted up nose damage like they broke what was securing them to the car.

This really sucks. I just found out from Ford Chat/Marketing that my car to be delivered within the next few days has been pushed 6 weeks.

This came from the dealer;

It does look like it will be delayed one month.

I am debating after 11 months of waiting to just cancel the order.
Sorry to hear about this !!
It took me 11 months to get mine & I hate that you may have another month added to your wait.

Yeah I am bummed. It will be about 11 mos when I get it, If it arrives by the new date. I am not holding my breath given what just happened.

But thanks to all that support me. I am still trying to find out what actually transpired, but no luck so far.

DM me if you want someone in similar shoes to rant to. Happy to chat about my experiences and hopefully answer questions or at least be someone to vent to.
Thanks for the offer, but I will let everyone know if I find out the cause of this mess.

Oh for sure, I want to know too. Just giving you a less public outlet if you ever need it.

Mine's turned into a crap show today.

Black Forest here... I put in an order for a '23 Premium from Phil Long Chapel Hills. Sorry to hear about your plight; I'll be curious to hear how it ends up being resoled and I'll definitely let you know how mine goes!

I checked with Chat yesterday and they claim it wasn't sent back to the Mexico plant. Somehow I don't believe them

Any one else have their car sent back to the Factory in Mexico after being in the KC Railyard for 3 weeks?
Sending my Mach E back to Ford for good. My car has spent over 40 days at the dealer and they still can’t fix the software issue after 5 attempts. Too bad, loved the car, but it’s a lemon. Too many problems, suggest you find another EV.
