I parked my car this morning after driving to work with 42% battery remaining and well over 100 miles of range. When I started the car after work to drive home the battery was at 44% but stated the range was now 32 miles. Luckily I only had an 18 mile drive home but any idea why this happened? When I got home I was down to 18 miles of range with 23% battery. Do I need to bring it into the dealership? It is a 2023 with LFP battery still under warranty. I took pics of when I left work and right after I got home. Thanks!

You need to charge your car to 100% on a monthly basis. The BMS for the LFP batteries is subject to drift, and charging to 100% periodically re-calibrates things. If it is still showing odd range figures after that, then you should take it to the dealer to have the battery looked at.

You need to charge it to 100% ASAP. If you do not regularly charge a LFP battery to 100% (at least once or twice a month) the battery management system (BMS) can accumulate a lot of error which can cause sudden state of charge drops as you experienced.

You do not need to bring it to a dealer, just do the 100% charge every two weeks.

Thanks for the advice. I rarely charge to 100% but I’ll be more diligent going forward. I’ve had the car almost 2 years now and this never happened before so I was super worried

There's a good chance that's the issue especially considering the OP's reply, but the SOC didn't drop, only the GOM did. Could be typical GOM nonsense.

a 19% battery usage for 18 miles is pretty bad unless the weather is very very cold

Isn’t it recommended to charge the LFP to 100% all the time?

No.

" Set the maximum charge level to 100% and charge to 100% at least once per month to maintain range accuracy. "

Please remind me how to charge to 100%. My MME is set to charge to 90%. I plug into a ChargePoint Level 2 charger at home every night which is programmed to allow charging betweeen midnight and 6am when my electric rates are lowest. Yesterday I plugged the car into the charger, then while I was inside with the car on, I changed the settings on the screen to charge to 100%. But when I got up this morning it had only charged to 90% as usual. What am I doing wrong? Does there need to be actual charging taking place to override the 90% “standard” settings? Do I need to turn the ChargePoint charger on before trying to set the car to 100%?

What amp setting are you charging at? Also how low in your battery at when plugged in?
As you stated your only charging for six hours. That might be not long enough if the amps are too low. Or if you have run the battery down too low.

As a quick fix, if you select "Start Charging" in the Ford app it thinks you want to charge to 100% and will override your 90% setting that one time. Some here like that--Indid not because either the other battery chemistry in our 2024 GT, we never charge to 100%. So we'd prefer Start Charging to mean "Start Charging" and still obey our set limit.

as the other forum member stated, depending on your charge rate and your starting SOC, 6 hours might not be enough to get to 100%. Probably take one in the chin and just hit "Start Charging" earlier to give it plenty of time to get to 100% is the way to go.

I'm charging at 24 amps and started at about 75%. I don't think I am running out of time, but am not doing something right when I set up 100% charging....

Here are some options:

1) Plug in before charging begins. The app should show a slider. Slide it to 100%. It should stay there. Tomorrow, slide it back to 90%.

or

2) At midnight, click on Start.

If you are at 75%, it will finish in 6 hours.

Does the battery’s range actually drop or does the GOM just read inaccurately?
