Yes, I was joking. I traded in my Model S when I bought the MME.

Not planning on trading in my Model S, but already I feel the age difference between the two when I test drive the MME and then go back to my almost 6 yr old computer car...

If only it sounded more like a space ship.

The car makes a very retro-scifi on the outside speakers in EU, when backing up or going forward up to 25km/h.

So there’s that.

I turned the noise on when I first got the car a few months ago and couldn't hear the sound at all, so I switched it off and haven't considered even trying it again. Not sure if it isn't working in my car or if there is some other reason I couldn't hear it, but it really isn't a big deal to me.

It's silly in this car just like it's silly to have it in the "real" mustang. I turned it off in my 2015 and leave it off in the Mach E.

But at least it's not ice cream truck music ?

The most appealing thing about an electric car to me is that it's QUIET.

I leave it enabled, but I drive in whisper mode 99% of the time which doesn't play any fake sound. If I feel like it I'll throw her in unbridled and then the noise kicks in. I more of use it as a gimmick to laugh at with people who haven't been in the car before.

If I bought a Taycan I would pay the $500 for the fake sound. That thing sounds sweet

There are times I would like user-defined sounds - like to annoy the evil HOA board member by coming home at 2:00 AM loudly playing the “heavy chains dragging on concrete” driving sound. Then, I stop and think to myself - that is exactly why I don’t think people should EVER be allowed to upload their own propulsion sounds ???
