This. There's a network diagram floating around somewhere I'll try to find and paste, but basically there are certain in-vehicle network types that can only move data so fast.The latest and greatest airliners use a CPU that would shock people with its sheer age, and have an amount of memory that people didn't know you could go so low and still function. They do fine too. It's not the hardware per se.
Think of it like this: You have the fastest computer with the fastest network interface in the world. Your house has the fastest internet connection in the world. If the router in between can only handle 128kbps, you're going to think the internet is the slowest buggiest crap on Earth.
