After getting the 1.3 blue cruise update, I tried the lane change feature and it worked a couple of times for a couple of days and then never worked since. Finally took into a dealer and they claim that we must have hit an animal or someone backed into us without our knowing and the front bumper gave enough and came back without any sign of damage, but yet enough to where the SODCMD module is damaged and the bracket bent. They want to replace both, I would love to get access to it to check this out, but I assume this is above my pay grade. Does anyone know if this could have happened with absolutely no sign of damage on the bumper? Thanks

Personally, I cannot see how the mounting bracket was bent without any sign of bumper cover damage. That module is directly under the middle of your right side (passenger) headlight. The bumper cover has a lip at the top of it that clips in right under the headlight. You cannot physically push it in any further without damaging the top part of that bumper cover or the headlight.

I would love to be there when they remove that bumper cover which is the ONLY way they can even see if the bracket on that module is bent.

Your car is reporting this active fault. Hard to say how the alignment was thrown off, but there is validity to what they are saying.

Thank you very much for that picture, that answered a lot of my questions. I also was thinking the same that I want to be there when they get the bumper cover off. Thanks again!

By your picture it would almost appear that removing the headlight would give some insight, but you did say removing the bumper cover is the only way. If I know how some of this stuff is it might be easier to remove the bumper cover than the headlight anyway.

The headlight extends several inches below the opening in the bumper cover, making it necessary to remove the bumper cover in order to remove the headlights. Might as well not remove the headlight since it is not in your way for this. ??

That is the diagnostic code, but they are claiming the sensor is damaged and not functioning, $$$ along with the bracket being bent?? I did just double check and I am able to push the top of the bumper cover in a little more than on the driver's side, but there is no marks or damage. I suppose a bird could maybe do something like that, I am in farm country.

How difficult is it to remove the bumper cover? Checked YT, lots of mustangs, but no mach e's. Doesn't look like they have a ton of labor in the quote, $971 for bracket and module.

Checked, my cost on the module is $441 so there must be some labor built in. They didn't seem to find a bracket.

I believe it's less than half an hour to remove and replace the front bumper cover. I haven't done it myself, but @markboris has. ??

Just on my '24 I've had the bumper cover off three times for various mods. Not difficult at all but a ton of fasteners to remove underneath. If you want the photo description of how to remove the bumper cover per the Ford repair manual, let me know. I've posted it in a thread somewhere here in the last 4 years just don't remember where but can post it again. Also as Steve said, you have to remove the bumper cover if you want to remove the headlight assembly.

We're on a trip, been nice to have had it working, but I'll bother you when I get home. Looking up that module I saw a 150 where I think it was unplugged, be nice if that was the case. Thank you

Odd that happened without signs of external damage, but it’s possible somebody backed into your car while parked?

I’m not too sure that there wouldn’t be some visible damage if there was an impact that managed to misalign the sensor. I had some vandalism happen to my 2021 shortly after I bought it right at the sensor area on the left side. This is the scrape that was left there. The damage went all the way through the paint. I never had the car complain about that sensor being borked. ??

If you happen to find that I would appreciate it, give me something to go by. For roughly $500 it's worth giving it a try. Thanks
