SOLVED: I need a software update at the dealership

Hello!

I have a 2021 Mach-E and I really want to use the frunk (without using the lever on the driver's side).

I recently red that the frunk can be opened by typing the door code, following 7-8, but it doesn't work for me.

Anyone knows if it's some software update that I can do / line of code that I can write to activate the frunk opening from the pillar? Someone told me that in the first 2021 models this wasn't an option.

If it matters in any way, I'm from Europe.

Don’t you have the new Mustang key (pictures attached) with the front boot release button on it?

If not, you might want to enquire whether you’re entitled to a pair of Mustang keys.

In UK there was a recall which meant Ford would provide and program a pair of replacement keys free of charge

Yes, that's my fob.

Then if you press the button arrowed in attached twice the front boot should unlock which should mean you don’t have to use the release lever in car.

Does that work on your car?

I never tried or even thought of entering the code at the door pillar, I don’t think I’d ever use it even if it did work.

The key fob has always been the convenient option for me. Does yours work this way?

When you press the release button under bonnet, does it sound like mine in the attached video?

If so, it’s likely a key and/or vehicle programming thing, if not the electric release may be at fault.

Yep….I haven’t used the solenoid release since I saw that thread.

My wife & I just use the Frunk unlock, via selecting four dots (remote controls) on the same row as car lock/unlock on the Ford app on my iPhone.

Unless the Ford mothership has restricted or delayed by country. In Canada I'm using Ford version 4.6 from the App Store. Frequently the Ford & Lincoln app don't automatically update on our iPhones. Have to go to the iPhone App Store, search for Ford (Lincoln), open, then select update.
