Hello everyone,

First time posting here. Love my 23 MMEGTPE, but while it’s been with me, in April of this year, I’ve had to take it into the dealer now 3 times for steering. It’s been veering to the right a lot.

A couple of weeks ago, when doing a u-turn, the car starts to make a “think” noise coming from the front wheels. I thought it was from the wheels cutting on the wet pavement, but then it did it again the next morning on dry conditions. I dropped it off at the dealership this morning and the service person said that this is the 4th GT they've seen over the last few weeks with the same issue and that they don't know what to do with them. Has anyone ever had this happen?

Mine never pulled to one side, but it did make some light clunking noises that were attributable to a loose CV joint. It was repaired under warranty. That said, the CV joint is low hanging fruit for a clunking noise and your dealer has probably thought of that. Pulling to one side indicates that one or more tires are pointing such that ir will pull. A clunking in the suspension coupled with a misalignment indicates to me a control arm bushing, rack bushing, a ball joint, or a tie rod end as a possible problem. ??

My 2023 GTPE makes this exact noise as well when making a tight turn but does NOT pull to one side or the other. I have not taken it to the dealer yet because it only does it intermittently and I'm sure they will just tell they can not replicate the problem.

Please keep us updated if you or your dealer finds a solution.

Good morning, if you’d like further assistance regarding the noise concern, feel free to send us a private message with your VIN and local Ford dealer. Thank you!

I will. The dealer said they've seen 4 GTs with the same issue recently, so I immediately came here and searched the forum and found nothing, so that's why I posted.

Thanks for the note. I'll say something to the service tech. They're not too keen on receiving advice from a non-Ford person. I also think he's biased towards ICE vehicles. lol

I’m about as non-Ford as it gets (although I have bought more new Fords than almost any other make new). See my avatar. I wish I could afford that Tempest. ??

Ain't that the truth. :(

Never say the word internet or forum to a service writer or technician. They dislike nothing more than an informed customer.

Quick update, the dealership called Ford because it’s been the fifth car they’ve seen recently with this issue. Ford told the dealer to change the tires to see if it would do the same thing. That’ll happen tomorrow. ?

Do you still have the OEM tires or have you swapped them out with a different brand?

Ok, so got the car back from the dealership and the reasoning behind the issue. The dealership said they checked the Ford database and found out the same issue was happening to GT vehicles only. The issue is that the tires are the cause, since these are Summer tires and when it gets below 40 degrees (I'm in central Indiana), they are not allowing the front differential to slip on sharp turns, causing jerking and binding of front differential.

They're advice? Buy new, all-season performance tires in order for this to stop. Of course, this would be all on me. My complaint, and I know it's not fair, but it is what it is, is why would Ford sell a performance vehicle with summer-performance tires, to people who live in places where it's going to get below 40 degrees. I know this has to do with manufacturing, lowering costs, etc., but come on, it shouldn't be this hard to put all-season performance tires on these cars when A) they're performance vehicles and B) they're expensive.

I'm sure I can find advice on all-season performance tires in the other threads, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I'll get off my high horse now. Thanks for coming to the show!

I live in California and don’t have the issue. Plus I have a Premium.

I have read on the forum that some keep an extra set of winter rims and tires and switch them out for winter and summer.
