just entered my order placed on 8/20. Still shows "order sent to dealer", and next step is "order accepted by dealer". I would assume I should expect that done today? (It's been 3 days now)
You may need to give the dealer a nudge.

The bad news was that since a VIN has already been assigned, it will remain a 2021 model, even with an October delivery. I was hoping that anything delivered after September or October would be a 2022, but that is not the case. :-(
They're not even taking orders for 2022s until my car's build week, 6 weeks from now (September 27). I'm probably not going to take delivery until 2022 on my 2021 GT-PE if my car is subject to a 6 week "chip hold."

I can't explain why Bearaka17 was told that he would have to create a new order to change the color, but I personally know that it's possible to change the color without creating a new order as I did it TWICE with my GT order. It may have something to do with the dealer and their experience with such things but it is absolutely doable to change options on an order without placing a new one and it did not impact my delivery date. Now if you change the trim as your suggesting, all best could be off but it's worth at least talking to the dealer about it.
As long as a VIN hasn't been assigned, it's possible. Once the VIN has been assigned, the order is fixed and any changes require a new order.

yea that's what I had to do...I called and they said I had to come in and sign some stuff. Pretty sure I didn't but just to placate them I went ahead and apparently order will be placed today.

I actually brought up you changing your color to them. You changed to cyber orange right? Anyway, they told me that it was too late and blah blah blah but its probably a ymmv type of deal depending on your dealer.

Yes - I started with Cyber Orange, changed to Rapid Red, then thought better of it and changed it back.

So I think I finally figured out why orders seem to be picked at random! This may be why people who ordered 2 months after me have build dates and I do not…

from my dealer after my 10th email of bitching….

I got as high on the chain as I could asking for answers. Your Mach-E GT w/ Performance (and all Mach-E GT w/ Performances not yet scheduled) will almost certainly be pushed to model year 2022.

The trim you selected (GT w/ Performance) is produced regionally by batch. If I recall correctly, the number is 300 - so, when Ford has 300 of them to build, they do. I'm told that there isn't add'l allocation for 300 of these units for this model year in the Chicago/Detroit region - as such, yours almost certainly will be pushed to model year 2022. This is going to be the case with all dealers regionally.

I can confirm the GT w/ Performance we have a VIN for was reserved very, very early, and it's looking like there was one Job (batch) for this region produced so far in which that unit was included, and yours was not. It was due to reservation timing.

I can get your Mach-E scheduled much sooner if you lose the Performance package - I'm told it will get scheduled basically immediately.

My order status now reflects "Production in Progress" with a build date scheduled for "week of 10/25/2021". A little later than I expected and I just hope it stands firm.

Placed my initial order on 5/7/2021 for the RWD Premium ER in Black. At this rate just hoping to get delivery before year's end. No VIN # yet, but curious if I will receive a 2022 model since production won't be until October.

Got my dealership to change my priority code from 19 to 11. I hope this speeds things up. Order 6/10 Star White premium 2WD extended battery.

I just submitted the Order Submission Form. Doing all the research I can to try to narrow down my delivery window ASAP! Ordered when it showed as "28+ weeks" on Ford.com. Will it be pushed to a '22? Will it actually be ~28 weeks until delivery (thus contemplating buying something inexpensive in the interim to get me through the winter)? etc, etc, etc - hoping to learn all that and more via this great forum!

My production date just showed up. 10/11 seems to be a busy week. I ordered 5/10 a RWD Premium Extended Battery.

Any thoughts as to when production will switch from 2021 to 2022 model year?

If I recall...All orders received after October will be for 2022's and the production of those begin in December
